JWill67 Posted December 30, 2025 Report Posted December 30, 2025 Hi all, quick introduction, I’m a Brit working in Scandinavia in specialised construction management, about 6 months ago I was browsing the Swedish small ads website called “blocket” and ending up buying a MK 11 escort with what I consider all the right bits on it, it’s not a Mexico or an RS 2000 but a Restomod. she had a little bit of rust appearing on the rear arch and a few car park dings so I took her to a local restoration business in Norway and had her fully sorted with new metal and a full diamond white respray. I’m new to this forum so I wasn’t sure if I should list all the specs but what the hell, we’re all enthusiasts right ? Here’s a list of the mods Ford Pinto 2.0L engine Approx. 164 bhp (dyno proven) Ross forged pistons (92.0 mm) ZRP I-beam forged connecting rods Kent Cams GTS1 camshaft kit Large stainless steel valves Rebuilt cylinder head Performance bearings and gaskets throughout Twin Weber 45 DCOE carburettors Performance inlet manifold Properly jetted and set up Upgraded lumenition ignition system Improved cooling system (uprated radiator setup) Electric fan Ford Sierra T9 5-speed gearbox Hydraulic clutch conversion Propshaft modified to suit T9 conversion Bilstien Coilover suspension conversion Uprated springs and dampers Front disc brake conversion single rear leaf springs Lowered stance Ashley Performance exhaust system IMG_6973.mov 1
Admin Vista Posted December 30, 2025 Admin Report Posted December 30, 2025 Welcome to Old Skool Ford, glad to be of help with your registration. Thanks for reaching out. Nice looking Escort
quickrack Posted December 30, 2025 Report Posted December 30, 2025 Welcome aboard! That's a fine car you got. Without trying to be a smartar.....alex were the nuts n bolts holding the engine together uprated? Thats a lovely revvy spec loikee! And Happy New Year!
Miniliteman Posted December 30, 2025 Report Posted December 30, 2025 Hi, is the engine on DCOE's or IDF's as per the photo?
dasadrew Posted December 31, 2025 Report Posted December 31, 2025 Welcome on board. Out of interest, how does Sweden manage classic cars with respect to CO2, modifications and insurance, limitations in ULEZ type ares etc.? (Only out of interest - you don't have to reply!) 164 bhp sounds impressive with so few modifications to the engine. The Ford Group 1 "road legal" Escorts had 'officially' 140 bhp and in the 80's it was rumoured that you'd be lucky to get 140 on a dyno.. (I really must get mine on a dyno sometime.....!) Happy 2026 motoring!
JWill67 Posted December 31, 2025 Author Report Posted December 31, 2025 Hi all, thanks for the messages and I’ll now reply or attempt to 😃 @quickrack @Minilitemanyes your correct, they are Weber IDF’s , I have just searched through the huge A4 folder that the previous owner gave me and found all the receipts and user manual from Weber and it’s all there but in Swedish, bought brand new in 2022 from MECA Sweden…. all of the engine components including the head bolts were supplied by Burton, this engine has been ported and assembled by a Swedish race engine builder whose name eludes me at the moment but is well known in Swedish drag racing for his V8 builds, I can reach out to the previous owner as I talk to him quite regularly and update, my point is this engine has over £10 grand in parts spent on it and I have the receipts to back it up, I don’t have the labour costs though . @dasadrewSo the car is now exempt from its vehicle inspection called vägverket apparently as it’s over a certain age and was thoroughly inspected by the Transportstyrelsen agency, I’m not aware of any ULEZ restrictions but I’m gonna check it out; yes this car started life as a 1.3 I think however the VIN plate was analysed by CHATGP and it’s stating it was a 1.6 pinto fitted originally but I’m sure that an expert on here can help decode the Vin plate . Most importantly the car is officially recorded on its official paperwork as engine swapped to a 2.0 litre, according to the previous owner this is difficult to do but he’s done it and once again I have all this documentation in my “folder of provenance” however I believe the engine displacement is more like 2.05 litres due to the Forged 92mm pistons now fitted to over sized bores. As for the power output please see the dyno pics below, I wasn’t present at the run but I have no reason to think it’s a photoshop job 😀I have the originals in the FOP files. Im not a mechanic so don’t shoot me down in flames, however I’m very hands on and fabricated a new alternator bracket to accommodate a new alternator as the one fitted was knackered, I purchased an 100 amp universal alternator from BILTEMA as I couldn’t find a Ford original, anyway seems to be working fine as I have driven the car from Skien in Norway to a town above Stockholm Sweden to its new home, I basically ran the engine in on that journey as it only had 400 kilometres on it since its rebuild, 850 kilometre trip, and yes I dropped the oil and changed the filter myself on its arrival . ive even got the original Ford manuals and instruction books, this car has been loved all its life in all its history from family saloon to its current restomod configuration.
quickrack Posted December 31, 2025 Report Posted December 31, 2025 Stout figures! Bet its nice and lively😎
JWill67 Posted December 31, 2025 Author Report Posted December 31, 2025 The Lumenitiom rev limiter was set to 4000 RPM as the engine was hardly run since the build was completed in July 2024 and Simon the previous owner had only put 400km on it in a year until I bought it in July 2025, he’d fell out of love with the car and his missus wanted a boat……poor guy in answer to your question is it lively, it is now since I’ve adjusted the rev limiter to maximum whatever that is, I took it to 6000 RPM yesterday In the first 3 gears before I bottled it, I’m told she’s good for 6500 RPM after she’s properly run in 😈 1
Dave Knight Posted January 1 Report Posted January 1 Welcome pal. That’s a nice Escort, impressive BHP. Dave
JWill67 Posted January 2 Author Report Posted January 2 @Dave Knight thanks Dave, all credit due to the Swedish engine builder….can’t wait until the spring to take her out again, we are currently under a metre of snow here in Sweden…the car is tucked up in bed in a dry lock up ! 2
Dave Knight Posted January 2 Report Posted January 2 Snow here as well but not significant. Minus 3 going to work this morning and gritted roads. 😬 1
BaileyMex Posted February 12 Report Posted February 12 Very nice! Car looks great and sounds impressive
