FredTransit Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 There is a re make of the Sweeny planned, as far as I can tell it will be set in the original period, shooting at the end of the summer. Obviously there will be a fair few OSF involved, so if you are up for a bit of filming please contact me. I am particularly keen to find some minty Mk1 grannies for obvious reasons. Stands back and prepares to get killed in the rush......

FredTransit Posted May 7, 2008 Author Report Posted May 7, 2008 I think I should say there is a good chance this will be a cinema film, we have high hopes for a series, see how it goes
FredTransit Posted May 12, 2008 Author Report Posted May 12, 2008 Well, having had a long conversation with the police expert (historical and modern) it looks as if there is a chance this production will be contemporary, that is modern day WTF!!! How can they expect to get away with a 2008 version of car chasing, politically incorrect, violent gun toting police god that is Jack Regan?? To be fair, said police expert did point out 1, There is no longer a 'Sweeney Todd -Flying Squad' 2, You just won't get away with what Regan did in the late 70s today. That got the production company thinking, so it's still possible it could be set in the original era. TBH if they set in the present day, it will just be another cop show.

JAY PS Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 Cant top the original ,there are on about remaking Minder with Alfie Moon !Sorry i mean Shane Richie > Cant see how this will ever work ? Just because the writers cant think up more original stuff lets remake an old one ! Life on Mars kind off worked ,but Ashes to Ashes was lost on me ,the street scenes restricted to a block of roads around the docklands somewhere was have been used in the Bill recently and a tv ad just last week . Please please tell these morons to go and get an original idea before they ruin the memory of John Thaw and the supporting cast and crew. Rant over for now

FredTransit Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 Good news. There is a chance the Sweeney re make may still be set in it's original era. I will know more tomorrow.....
FredTransit Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 If it's the white one in your sig I have to tell you that white is not a popular colour, unless it's a night shoot.....
FredTransit Posted June 25, 2008 Author Report Posted June 25, 2008 White police cars were more 1980s, though if you wanted to spray the frint and rear wings fjord blue it might be nearer a panda car....
ilovegrannys Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 If Kudos are getting their hand in with this the show will be excellent, they done a tip-top job on LoM & A2A, I know there was a few mistakes with the cars but i can honestly say they are the bods for the job. Just one question, who is going to play the two main bods? Big shoes to fill!!
Lee-Mk2 Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 I thought that Ran winstone was talking about taking the main role in a new sweeney film - He also appeared in the original!
FredTransit Posted June 26, 2008 Author Report Posted June 26, 2008 Yep, Ray Winstone for Jack Regan (confirmed), I suspect he was instrumental in pushing for the original era. I have heard a whisper of Jason Stathan for Carter.
