come and see it and others at the show
-
and to host those events and shows, the club has to have things like public liability insurance and stand/exhibit equipment, that all costs money, £12 a year is nothing imho, but as said by RP. no one is asking/forcing anyone to pay, its purely voluntary at the moment, but a lot of members dont even know what the cult is, as its not really advertised, perhaps if a lot more paid, then it may be able to be reduced, i dont know, but i do feel anyone attending shows and events under the osf banner, should be a cult member really, as they are using things like the insurance to be there

just to add to marks comments, @Vista Estate, from what i read on the net some while ago, the pink coloured antifreeze (sometimes green) (think its called OAT antifreeze in halfords) should only be used in modern systems with a sealed header tank where no air is usually present, and usually these systems have aluminium heads and blocks, if you use it in a conventional steel system that has no header, it creates extensive corrosion of the head and block when air is present in the cooling system, if you swap between them. you must flush the system completely ridding it of the wrong one, if you dont, the mix of the 2 will cause them to crystalise and block the waterways, and ive even seen it corrode aluminium water pump and thermostat housings

i have a mk2 English axle casing up for grabs, it was removed from a mk1, but was fitted as a slave, but is for 60mm springs, I'm fed up with tripping over it, its free to collector, no post as its too big for most of the couriers, and i also don't have packaging materials i could take it to the NEC if you wanted to collect it there though, BUT, i dont want to be bringing it back because you have not turned up for it please note, its the casing only, no diff, no shafts if no one pipes up within next 7 days, then it goes out for the scrap PM me if interested, its a first come first served basis

come on guys, lets get this show rolling a tad faster here, tickets can be ordered using the discount code CCCNOV325, theres only a few weeks left for club benefits to using the code and only till the 7th Nvember to benifit from it yourselves dont give us the old bit about it being too expensive when you own classic cars, go up the pub or go to see bands etc, because i just dont believe it we put on these stands at a vast cost to ourselves, not the club, which far exceeds the price of 10 tickets, let alone one, so please come and show your support for old skool ford

best you buy yourself an NEC ticket then, as Seans car will be on the Old Skool Ford stand this year, see it in the flesh -
ok Guys and Gals this year for the NEC, Mark aka @Vista Estate has got involved and really taken the show in a direction that i not only didnt know existed, but also i wouldnt have known where to start, and while that also has a little to do with his media contacts, Mark has put in an enormous amount of time and effort into publisising (spelling lol), both the show itself and the 2 clubs. and that wont stop until the show is over for this year, Kellye, aka @stephens_xpack and I, took over running the stand from @popeye in 2018, and gathered a dedicated set of cars/members together, and we did it each year till 2022 on basically the same set of cars, because its an expensive show to exhibit at, and getting new cars is not easy, but calls to change the cars were being shouted for, so last year i took the 1300E club to the NEC as well as a separate stand, this freed up the space on the OSF stand for fresh cars, as well as celebrate an anniversary on the 1300E stand. this year, we did initially have difficulty in filling the spaces on the OSF stand, as was the case back in 2017, but we got over that, and mark has worked tirelessly on the promotion in conjunction with Retro ford magazine and the NEC's news articles, along with multiple FB adverts etc, to sell tickets and advertise the event, and i am again taking the 1300E club on its own stand, theyre next to each other, making set up and breakdown a lot easier, but again allowing variation on the OSF stand this year will see the OSF stand with its biggest variation of cars in years, all be it mainly Escorts so as a big thank you to Mark for all his efforts, please get those wallets open and book your tickets online using the discount code, and come and see us, and Mark, i hope youll be with us next year

Blue mk2 Granada Estate OO39, Wordsley, W Midlands 16/07/24
Ray replied to escortmad79's topic in STOLEN OLD SKOOL FORDS
My transit was stolen from my driveway at 2am by 3 nasty looking thieves, we have it all on camera police were only interested in giving a crime incident number over the phone to enable an insurance claim they don’t have the resources to do anything else Van was found stripped and dumped 2 days later on what looked like an industrial estate in tilbury and deemed scrap -

police are not interested in stolen vehicles, as i found out to my cost a month or so ago, as far as rheyre concerned, they issue you a crime no over the phone for you to claim on your insurance, thats their job done -
Guys and Gals This year’s NEC classic car show hopefully will be a tad more appealing to everyone, some of you will know that I’m now involved with 2 stands at the show, Old Skool Ford and the Ford Escort 1300E owners Club. So, this is written in a way I can post it to both clubs. We have what we feel is a nice line up of cars this year an are situated in the corner of Hall 8. Both stands are effectively next to each other, stand numbers for those interested are 8-070 & 8-090, the line up is as follows. Old Skool Ford stand: 1) Sean Forde’s original unrestored Mk1 Mexico 2) Dean Southward’s fabulous Twin Cam Replica 3) Chris Martins Mk1 Escort Zetec Van 4) Mark Scott’s Vista Orange Mk1 Escort Estate 5) Ian Campbell’s Mk1 Cortina Project 1300E owners club stand comprises of one of each of the 4 types of 1300E: 1) Ray Coley’s ultra low mileage pre-launch build series 1 car 2) Harry Wrights early series 2 Miami blue car 3) Paul Bethel’s late series 2 (facelift) car in stunning onyx green 4) Gareth Bowens late 4 door car in Purple velvet Well that’s the lineup of the 2 stands, and this year celebrates the following birthday/anniversaries 1) 20 years of Old Skool Ford 2) 40 years of the classic car show at the NEC 3) 50 years of the last production year of the 1300E 4) 50 years of the closure of the AVO Plant If you’ve not been to the Classic car show for some time, then this should be your year to come along as there promises to be lots of celebrations going on. Come and give us your support. Details of the classic car show can be found by going to https://www.necclassicmotorshow.com/ To mark the occasions, Mark Scott, AKA Vista estate, has involved Retro Ford Magazine to cover the cars of both stands during the lead up to the event and the stands at the event, this will all go out on the Retro Ford Retards Club page (make sure you follow it and comment) leading up to the show, and during the show. After the event Retro Ford will be doing a Magazine Feature. Additionally, Evoke Classics will be running a parallel feed through their site with the well-known Sarah Crabtree adding her wit and Yorkshire wisdom. So, remember guys and gals, to book your discounted tickets using the discount code CCCNOV325 You may book as many tickets as you want, and you can verbally pass it to friends, but you must NOT publish the code anywhere.

i have a set of thread restorers, ill try the unf one in a block later, but tbh i think the threads in my spare blocks, are way too course for it to be unf, and i matched my union to the NPT tap earlier
-
just a few thoughts, nothing definite, just a few thoughts, so don't shoot the messenger my block and correct original union match your 11mm and 13mm even in the pictures, the pressure switch looks too big Aluminium threads have a habit of picking up, mainly when undoing, especially if the threads are dry, causing that sort of damage that aluminium fitting, firstly are you sure its 1/4 NPT, 1/4 BSP is very close, but different, ive just checked 2 taps together to make sure, and also tried putting a 1/4 BSP in the hole in a block and appears marginally too big, whereas the NPT tap fits, the thread pitches are marginally different, but the BSP made in aluminium, could probably be forced in and cause that damage the block is a straight 1/4 NPT designed to have a STEEL fitting of 1/4 NPT tapered so its threads seal, not a crappy soft aluminium piece, when using the pressure gauge not had to fit a switch, only removed them tbh, but looking at your picture, that looks like a straighter thread and would use a sealing washer to seal it, but as said, it does look too big the aluminium block also looks as though its possibly been overtightened, possibly to get the tee off in the right place, which again could cause that degree of damage, and if so, ur lucky it didnt snap in there it would worry me as to how much debris (if any) has entered the engine if your insistent on wanting both pressure gauge and pressure switch, i would get that block manufactured with the correct required threads in steel, and the same with that brass fitting, better off in steel imho
