300 mile round trip is nowt? I do that just to get to work one way. Dont know you are born you lot. 150 miles is just over two hours away, thats easy?

Also trailer hire is about £30 a day, so dead cheap i reckon?

You could always get the train and drive back?

Yes, 300 miles piece of pish, It's the 900 or 1000 mile round trips that are a drag!

Trailer hire is a bargain, get it done

My bruv's cars or mine when we have bought them are never less than 500 round trip, longest was 1200 = Newcastle to London to Gloucester to Lakes and then back, admittedly we were visiting people but its a weekend on da road :) Stop ya whining :)

My best to date was a 120 mile helicopter to Aberdeen, and collected hire car, 300 mile drive to home to collect my Mrs, then about 300 more to Mrgate to collect an RS2. Then drove the 300 mile back home in the Mk1. all in a days work!

Have also travelled from Shetland to North London to buy my Mk1, then down to East London from there to buy a Mk2 which I thn drove back home Teeside. Again all in the same day.

I will be doing about 300 miles today, just to get home.

get off your arse! ;)

Agreed I do about 75 miles a day just to get to work and back. Just bought the wife an escort that we picked up from sussex 700 mile round trip no probs.

You cant want it that bad if you wont travel a poxy 300 miles :?

Im sure the youth of today are getting lazyer

I agree 300 miles is nothing, but it can be a pisser to travel 150 miles only to find that the car is nothing like how it was described and you don't want it anyway.

Plus the post 96 driving licence does make it impossible to tow anything yourself.

I did a near 550 mile round trip to collect the Alfa when I bought it. Despite being fully taxed and tested, it hadn't done more than 15 to 20 miles or so at a time for the last 5 years and I drove it 280 odd miles home. Had my fingers firmly crossed all the way.

just scanning ebay for a mk1 fiesta find one a right bargain but its a 300 mile round trip to get it :evil:

You're lucky - you live in Midlands. Should live up here. It's gonna be a 550 mile round trip next week to get a motor fitted to my Capper. On a good note, it'll be run in by the time I get back.

will the trailer place not allow the hire of them or could you just take the chance you dont get stopped ?

If you look at the group no's on the front of your photocard licence, then compare them to the diagram on the back of it, BE is car and trailer.

Having passed the standard test in 1988 I get the following groups automatically

B,B,BE,B1,C1,C1E,D1,D1E,f,k,l,n,p

Post 96 I think you get one or two groups but couldn't say what they are.

i got mine pre 96 just before they changed it and i got all the normal ones....ie 7.5 tonne etc....but if you want to drive with a trailer and 7.5tonne etc you have to do a test at the same place you go to get a lorry lience to be able to quailfy to drive them
