Guest M.Bird DOHC Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Throwing as much money as can at your car, to bolts as much stuff on like LSD's, 2.2's, Straight cuts, perspex windows, buckets seats and roll cages! OR Doing what you can with what you can! And enjoying it to the max! I sometimes forget It may just be me but i see so many cars being built and lots of money being spent but never see the car on the scene!
Arched Escy Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 There both the same thing...if you bolt all that stuff in,you're doing as much as you can.

Guest MK1gaz Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 The RS polishers are the worst , my mates have got mint mexicos that only leave their air tight cocoons for 1 car show a year , they even park them in the same spot when they get there as the years before !!!!!!!!!
Guest MK1gaz Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 One of them has a full monty pushrod and he won't rev it over 4000 !!!!!!!! , he even shouts at the m.o.t. tester if he goes to poke it when looking for rust or he wobbles the front wheels too hard !!!!!!!!! ............
escort21 Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Should be out there being used...thats what the're built for...mine is
Guest MK1gaz Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 There's a bloke with an RS turbo mk1 in the flats near my mates house that's had £20,000 spent on it . He won't drive it though incase it gets stone chips or dirty , he won't take it to shows ( even on a trailer ) incase someone leans on it , so he just stands over it most sundays with a feather duster which he flicks the dust off with !!!!!!!!!

Admin Mk2Jo Posted May 3, 2007 Admin Report Posted May 3, 2007 It's all about what people want to do as far as I'm concerned ..... if people don't want to bring their cars out then it's up to them although it is a shame that you don't get to see them but I don't think there's a right or wrong. As for bolting bits on and spending money .... don't see a problem there either ...... if people have the money then it's up to them
Jay_harrier Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 What Jo said ^^^ If it makes them happy then that's all the matters, I know a couple of guys who blow significant lumps of money on gambling - they enjoy it, to me its a waste but its their thing. Ok so Mr 20k RSt is scared to take it out on the roads but he is preserving a future OSF. Being critical about someone elses choice won't make any difference to them, lifes too short to get caught up in the pedantic stuff. I swear I'm becoming a hippy
caprifan Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 ...don't worry some of us are still getting by on shoe strings mate

Cookie Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Yea me always and mean always fookin skint, hence the cortina sat where it has been for last 2 years bt it will be my baby one day I'm of the train of thought that its up to people to do what they want, if they paid for it, then crack on, if you don't want to drive properly then don't but you don't know what your missing and YFKT

MK2JO : I understand what your saying but it makes for an expensive ornament if you just polish a car and never use it . May as well stick it in a museam on loan and save road tax and mot !
Wessie Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 when i get a full time job my anglias gonna get done i dont spend a fortune on it but i save up to buy the bits I want, but when its done it will be used and abused daily

Yep, I get what you're saying but it's up to them isn't it .... who are we to say that they are not doing the right thing - no-one elses business as far as i can see even though it's a shame
Gareth Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 I'm not knockin ppl that never use their cars, I jus cant understand it.... Like, you've jus polished/fitted a replacement carb, What's the first thing ya wanna do I mean you wouldn't spend XXX amount on a PS3 jus to leave it under your bed would you
Jimsiss Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 I've got no money, I had only enought to buy the mex then I've saved up for major panels that I can't make and made the rest myself, I like the budget approach, it gives you a big sense of accomplishment. I plan on finishing the mex for under 2k but if I have to I'll stretch to 3k but it'll take me ages to save that much up
james p Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 i have and do spend every penny i have on my cars but still abuse them proper lol
