So she says , " why don"t you get a Provident loan " like the one she has ...mmm, i says ..."whats the payments like "... she gets the book out..." £1000 = £12 a week "..ooh i says ...." Then i saw the interest rate.... " 177% APR !!!! ! " :shock: 177 FOOKIN PER CENT ...WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THINK I WILL DO IT BIT BY BIT

Admin Vista Posted May 28, 2007 Admin Report Posted May 28, 2007 I've been scamming the credit card companies 0% deals for years, they've funded much of my alfa resto and a good bit of the Escort too. Get one that has a long 0% deal for purchases (some of them are up to a year) get your car done and pay off as much as you can afford each month then transfer it to a new card with another 12 months when the 1st one runs out. I've paid all mine off now and must have had about £5k of credit without paying a penny interest.

bmxdave Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Id definately consider a loan, but id cap it at what i intend on spending, and get it from the likes of halifax etc. Id never get a car on finance. If i knew id pay it off within a year id definately get a 0% card. Ive got one atm, incase i see something swish i want. When it runs out you just get another. It also builds your credit record up because youve never owed, just borrowed and never actually been in debt.

flyingbanana Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 my mate got screwed up by these loans...he got a small loan..then decided to go on a spending loads of dosh and got another card to pay of the 1st card etc...4 cards later and few years later he is still paying it back......28 grand in debt .......by the time he gets his wages he has £60 to play around with...if that...he has now sorted him self out by calling these debt people and he is paying back a small sum each month....alot less than he was paying my motto is if you cant afford dont buy it.......ive never been in debt(touch wood) and i always have money for those rainy days and living costs ...prob because im good at saving..but then go and spend it all when i get bored

orionmojo Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 oh, and the whole system is a con. i had some cheeky bitch tlling me off for not borrowing money and told me that i wasn't worth the bank holding onto as i never leave any money in there. i promptly moved. my dad was hard up about 15/17 years ago and tried to borrow some money, h couldn't get the steam off thir piss. now all they want to do is lend him some. he had a phone call a few years ago asking what he did, as he had so much sitting there! cheeky coonts the lot of 'em. i hate the whole system and it hasn't even had the chance to screw me yet

We were accepted for a 100% mrtgage then got told we could only have 95% so we took out a loan for the 5%. Then we got told we could only have a 90% so because we couldnt get another loan we had to extend our overdraft. Then when our first son was born, we could never imagine how much a child cost, Coupled with the fact the wife had to leave work aswell. It didnt take long untill we were deciding wich bills NOT to pay that month. We were uterlly skint and up to our eyeballs in dept. after 4 years of constanlly sturgling and endless nights of no sleep we decided that our only option was to sell our house. We were just fortunate that the houseing market had gone bonkers we made nearly asmuch as we paid for the house in profit, Paid all our depts of and put the rest down as a big deposit on a new house in a defrent area. Since then (3 Years ago) we have never had a loan, credit card or any other form of finance and strictly live to the "if you cant afford it" attitude

I am kin useless with money...I'm good at earning it, but I am totally inept at keeping hold of it!...I just have no idea where it goes! I was declared bankrupt in 94, but luckily met the present Mrs a few months later and as bad as I am with money she is good with it. Never buys anyhting unless it is in a sale, and still thinks £20 is a lot of money bless her! She controls everything and as a result the tax man, vat man and every other man is always paid on time, we have a nice house, a nice car each as well as my Angle-box, and no sleepless nights worrying about bills! She also has the one and only credit card, and I m not allowed anywhere near it. Know your weaknesses, and I certainly know mine...put a hundred pound in my pocket today and it will be gone tomorrow night, and all I'd have to show for it would be half a dozen classic car mags and the smell of a kebab polluting my car!
