I got Practical Performance Car today and was looking through the hit, miss or maybe at the back.

Look at the 'Escort' entry.

For: So fun, so tunable, so tailhappy

Against: Naff 'old skool' scene.

Sour grapes?

PPC? I think I remember them doing a feature on a rolling resto of a 2.8i in the mod 90's they didn't seem to think the old skool scene was naff then.

PPC only started in 2003/4 .. and the ed has a v8 mk1 capri, dep ed has enough old school cars to fill a carpark too ..

There's an article about Waynes (Awsomes) anglia in it this month.

I was thinking the 'sour grapes' bit because they used to have a room on here, but was closed through lack of use.

I remember that, as I recall the lack of use went both ways. I answered one or two of his questions in threads he started (a question about superspeed escorts springs to mind) and he never followed it up.

maybe they would prefer to polisg the MG owners flat caps or something

That's a pretty sweeping statement, not all V8's are big heavy American things or under powered Rover lumps. I have one that's of lightweight magnesium alloy construction, quad cam, with dry sump lubrication and in stock trim revs as high as an uprated pinto. As standard they produce some 200 + bhp from a fairly meagre 2.6 litres.

Ok yes the new ones aren't bad and make more than 50 bhp a litre  but the fellas in that mag have got a fetish for the overheating , overated 50 bhp a litre if your lucky sort and think thats the way it's done :? . Never mind they're learn one day :lol::lol:

Well yes they make plenty of torque but considering the size of the blinking things they still aren't that good
