Retromotorsport Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Qulifiying went well.. small chassis adjustment and TP's adjusted .. first race on saturday, 2 laps from home and 3rd in class ..... BANG John Cross lost it into the chicane in his V8 Mercedes spacframe car and T boned Andy ... inner and outer sill mullered, door mullered, a and b pillars moved .. but we got Andy back out for Race 2 on the Sunday where he had a good finish in the soaking wet on slicks as it started raining on the formation lap. Got 2 weeks till Lydden to fix the car .. plenty of time
4parajon Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Thats a shame Gary, after all the hard work you and your team have put into getting the car spot on over the closed season, I think I would be crying now if I was Andy
Retromotorsport Posted July 16, 2007 Author Report Posted July 16, 2007 Andy's just phoned ... the sills will be here tomorrow.. so by the weekend i should have it all straight again ... just need a door or we will run with that one but beaten out a bit more till the Kevlar ones arrive
john_3.0s Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 shame but atleast its not terminal. dont wanna sound stupid but what are 'TPs' ??
Retromotorsport Posted July 16, 2007 Author Report Posted July 16, 2007 shame but atleast its not terminal. dont wanna sound stupid but what are 'TPs' ?? Not a stupid question at all ... being stupid is not asking .. TP's = tyre pressures and the chassis adjustment was the camber setting .
antz Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 least it wast as bad as wehn it got rolled thats a awful shame though
john_3.0s Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 shame but atleast its not terminal. dont wanna sound stupid but what are 'TPs' ?? Not a stupid question at all ... being stupid is not asking .. TP's = tyre pressures and the chassis adjustment was the camber setting . thanks retro, should have thought of that!
Admin Vista Posted July 16, 2007 Admin Report Posted July 16, 2007 Not a stupid question at all ... being stupid is not asking Well said, I applaud that sentiment. Too many so called "experts" look down their noses at those of us that are less well informed, it's refreshing to see one that has the same outlook as me on asking and answering questions. Car doesn't look too bad, certainly not compared to the last pictures I saw of it after an accident. Good luck in the next round
sambo Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Damn!! Hope you guys get it sorted soon! Is it difficult to repair the 'moved' A and B pillars then retro??
Retromotorsport Posted July 16, 2007 Author Report Posted July 16, 2007 shouldn't be too bad once the sills are cut out. I should just add that this is the first bad knock the cars had since it was rolled in '93 ... so she aint done bad and lives to beat the newer cars again
Fiesta Steve Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Bad luck Andy Might try and get down to Lydden to watch some racing
BlueMerlin Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Mmmm Lydden, haven't been there in a while. Hope you get it all sorted.
Gareth Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 That's really bad Glad to see it'll be repaired instead of scrapped and reshelled Best of luck
mk2_escort_chick Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 That sucks! I doubt dad will be out this year, what with decorating and helping with my fez. His fezza is in the corner feeling sorry for itself. Try and get him to go lydden and watch an event or 2.
marky4 Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 that's a sad sight hope you get it sorted soon
Jay_harrier Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 "just a flesh wound..." as my old man would say, you'd be surprised how bad it has to be before you give up on a shell - a bit of fresh tin & a jig, splash of paint & you'd never know. A guy I know put an Escort Cosworth end over end in a big way on a forest stage, a few days work and it was respectable & straight again.
Retromotorsport Posted July 17, 2007 Author Report Posted July 17, 2007 this is the result of another crash at Combe that weekend ... i hate the place and have always called it Castle Gloom and the incar link from the car that he hit in the Combe Saloons Race http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBOT5eajyZk so it could've been worse
Retromotorsport Posted July 18, 2007 Author Report Posted July 18, 2007 The Crash .......................... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9nxuyA-qFM
Twinkle Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 if you are stuck for a door i have one m8, its not the best in the world but its straighter than that!!!!!
