I've gone for the MK1 Escort although I have a Capri. I've had 2 Mk1's in the past and still have a hoooge soft spot for them. If I had the money I would deffo have another one.....keeping the Capri too, obviously :thumbsup:

From a slightly different perspective.... I think the 105e Anglia... why??? Well, this little car was responsible for the partnership between Cosworth & Ford. It was also a new breed of ford, with sharp styling and it was the first to feature the new OHV engine which was the beginning of new engines for Ford

*edit* BTW, it isn't because I own one, my personal favourite is and always has been the Capri. I love all old Fords... all of 'em I tell ya :ykt:

AhhHa, the 107e was the first ford to have the Pre cross flow fitted :roll:

I don't want to pedantic but the 107E and the 105E were both launched in September '59.

I'd vote for the 105E Anglia or the 100E but it's neither are on the list but Escort Cosworth and S1erra Cosworth are....

The 100E must be the best OSF because it's still seen every day over 50 years after going into production.

When I was a wee nipper in the sixties a guy at the end of our road had a black 100e lowered with wide steels and a white racing stripe. I dreamt of owning such a car. It took me till 1987 to get one, a 1957 two tone four door running a mk2 tina 1500gt pre crossflow and classic capri struts, lotus steels with dunlop wide oval crossplies, feckin cool or what. Well the 100e is the car for me but I do loooove my capri!!!

Your missing a fair few models from your list m8...

You may as well have put all the options for Escort... :ykt::ykt: Yawn...

As for this rts106_g.gif

Some of the other old signs have an austin 1100 in them.

107E was Ford trying to get rid of the last of the old model (100E) by tarting it up. Engine, gearbox, axle (obviously a different bulkhead to get the "modern" engine in)

I have voted MK1.

I may not think they are the best and I dont think that I would like to own one but the shape, the image everything about them to me just says that they are the daddys

Definatley either the mk1 escort or the mk1 cortina.

Probably the mk1 cortina.

I just think that they have a little more "Prestige" for some reason. They have held their "class" as there has been some seriously ruined and bad taste mk1 escorts out there in the past...

Yup, deffo mk1 cortina.

I sold a nice lotus rep mk1 tina and bought a superb mk1 rs2000.

No contest for me mk1 tina.

They just drive superb.Mine did.

Yes it had its steering box, suspension joints etc all rebuilt,

Yes it had single leaf mk1 escort rear springs.(thank god for mk1 escorts) haha

Yes it had a stonkin 1700 x flow, all of which which i fitted myself.

But the balance of the car was just superb.

I absalutely love mk1 escorts to bits.In my view they are on par with mk1 tinas in the looks department and ford got them both spot on when they designed them.

But i find the escort a little twitchy ,a little nervous if you like ,almost too resposive compared to a cortina on the road.

And that's after having a lot of mk1 escorts when from when i passed me test at 17 up to my late 20's.

That's in no way me slagging escorts off,i'll probably get another on soon knowing me. A nice mint Mexico would suit me right now.

But i realy want a mk1 lotus cortina, the genuine article.

Or i want another tina and i'd love my old one back and i want it back now!!
