Muttley MK2 Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 I have been on this site for a couple of months now and I am most impressed at the variety of vehicles and the vast array of ages and genders represented here! On the whole it is a very useful, interesting and friendly place to be. However I wish there could be an end to the bitching!! So many topics relating to "Why do people hate my four door" "Why do people in other classics look down at me?" "Am I a hooligan cos I drive my classic hard?" "Dont have those wheels cos they are crap" "You cant put 17's on an osf" Blimey people, we petrol heads are in the minority already so dont lets fight amongst ourselves! Look, enjoy, appreciate and if you really dont like then...keep quiet. I have always thought "If you cant say something nice, dont say anything at all" If you are so paranoid that you think the world and its mother hate you and your car, get some therapy!!!!
Admin Vista Posted November 28, 2007 Admin Report Posted November 28, 2007 And relax I don't see that there's that much bitching mate, it's a forum after all so people are bound to have different opinions from time to time. I'm even prepared to listen to Gaz's misguided point of view now and again edit: Though I whole heartedly agree and share your disapproval at any sniping at other peoples choices of ride/modification.
Muttley MK2 Posted November 28, 2007 Author Report Posted November 28, 2007 I do agree, and generally I tend to let it wash over, but a guy was going on about the cars on Chop Shop and to qoute " well all the oldies harking on about the seventies, there back and still shiite!" That was the final straw for me. As an "oldie" I pointed out that I and others like me started building what you now call osf's in the "shiite" seventies and that had it not been for that decade he wouldnt have an osfto drive! It was ignored of course I know I'll get my coat
over_head_cam Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 TBH mate, you've mentioned a tiny handful of threads amongst 1000's. Don't let it annoy you, it's not worth the bother. People will always be more vocal about things they don't like, it's just the way it is.
Jarrodm Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 Wow....Vista...I'm impressed..... Osf rules man, just sit there and think "At least i'm not the only one" Rest assured if anything genuinly bad gets said it will be delt with ! (I know all about this ) Jarrod
Guest MK1gaz Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 I'm even prepared to listen to Gaz's misguided point of view now and again I'd listen if i were you , you might learn something
oliwally Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 I do agree, and generally I tend to let it wash over, but a guy was going on about the cars on Chop Shop and to qoute " well all the oldies harking on about the seventies, there back and still shiite!" It was ignored of course I know I'll get my coat That would be me wasnt aiming at anyone in particular just pointing out that everyone slating the chopshop cars as the pieces of shiite they are. but it struck me that apart from the cars they used its not different to the custom car scene from the 70's and here we are slating them for ruining the cars they used. Mates dad had a bodyshop 2 doors down from where i lived, had 1000's of photos of his cars and on the other wall the work he'd done in the past. most of his fast fords we lowered and had sweet paint jobs. the other walls were of cars with 10" risers side exit exhausts port holes and roof chopped rovers/humbers and such. everyone on here moans about something,be it sierras chavs rs turbos vauxhall nova/corsa drivers. proper cars from late 70's through to the mid 80's were lowered, minilites, monster fast engines not painted pink with names down the side and need a step ladder the get into the back.
V8ian Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 Being another older fart, I too am in the position to comment on the 70s and yes, some of the cars were CRAP, all you need to do is have a look thru the pages of Hot Car, and there were some real Horrors, But there were also some very nice and tasteful cars. as for the Chop Shop, well I am almost speechless at the crap that they promote and as for those spacers they tend to value so greatly, Thats just so wrong, the stress loading that must go thru the suspension would be scarey, Even down to the measuring of the spacers with a tape measure and expecting them to fit, and as an engineer , I think I almost find it offensive, but the worrying thing about it is it shows the young and impressionable how to build DANGEROUS cars, and theres me thinking that some of the other build shows were bad, Wrecks to Ritches USA is one, with some obvious howlers on there, and then the one with Mike Brewer and Ed China do some things that are probably dangerous, or if not just downright wrong. Right The Grumpy ole Git had had his say and im off to kick the dog
Rick Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 to the untrained eye theres a lot of bitching... thing is most the people on eher know each other quite well and its mostly in jest. hang around a while and you begin to spot the real bitching against the mockery

ZetecVan 2.0 Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 For example; Gaz have you got your turbo and nos fitted yet? Oh no...! What have you gone and said that for....?
hotrodholty Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 stop bitching about bitching, bitches

sambo Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 Aw, c'mon, if someone on here put "teddy bear" alloys on their mk1 cortina and had neons underneath with max power style bodykits, you telling me that you wouldnt have something to say about it!!! Personally, i wouldnt hold it against anyone but i would share my opinions!!
antz Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 the good is that we are allowed to fight it out other sites i go on, as soon as there is the lightest bit of an argument the thread is lock, people banned and thats it! no wonder that sites numbres are going down
V8ian Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 Aw, c'mon, if someone on here put "teddy bear" alloys on their mk1 cortina and had neons underneath with max power style bodykits, you telling me that you wouldnt have something to say about it!!! Personally, i wouldnt hold it against anyone but i would share my opinions!! TeddyBears wont fit unles as they are the wrong offset, But I suppose at a Push, you could use some chop shop style spacers, and as for neons. us old farts had cruising lights bolted onto the rear of out Jacked up Mk1 cortinas, [well, not me personally] and of course there were allways Richard Grant clip together body kits for the Mk1, so the max power brigade have not really invented anything new!!!!!!!
Gibson Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 nothing wrong with a bit of banter... as long as you take any feedback you get in good humour and sensibly then there is nothing wrong with a little bit of constructive abuse....
Gibson Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 i think i was tying too say.... only give what you wouldnt mind recieving and you will be fine.... possibly... i rambled off halfway threw the first post
Admin Vista Posted November 29, 2007 Admin Report Posted November 29, 2007 Aw, c'mon, if someone on here put "teddy bear" alloys on their mk1 cortina and had neons underneath with max power style bodykits, you telling me that you wouldnt have something to say about it!!! Personally, i wouldnt hold it against anyone but i would share my opinions!! Are you brave enough to fit some Teddy bears and find out? Truthfully I doubt anyone that did would be posting pics of it up on here and asking for popular opinion. Oh and Gaz, fear not for I listen and have learnt plenty. Admittedly the things I've learnt are probably not the lessons you were attempting to impart, but I've learnt none the less.
sab6024 Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 I like them teddy bear alloys but I'm not stupid enough to buy a set Bitching is part of everyday life I'm affraid I get it and I drive a relatively standard 1.6 Capri, but I don't give a $hit coz I'm not expecting them to pay for it so I ignore them anyway. It's just peoples preferences

slappy Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 Hello old Skool Nutter, I have been building hot rods custom cars and yanks for yaers, ever since I could walk, and I upset every body with the cars that I drive, I even got slated the other day for riding my Chopper with my son riding his tomahawk, but i'm afraid I will never grow up and will always p--s people off buy turning up at different shows with cars people think are the devils spawn, oh to be different, Slappy.
