MexDan Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Just something to put the feelers out really- but I was wondering if anybody would be interested in an OSF Auto-test?? The plan is to have a low key summer event on private land (which I own) with a series of timed tests running in the afternoon/evening. My uncle and I jave been running events like this over the past 10 years or so. The venue is about 10 mins from Wrotham in Kent (J2 of M20) If you are unsure as to what auto-testing is have a look at ignoring the cost section http://www.msa-autotest.org.uk/howto.htm Cheers Dan
mossy Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 sounds like fun! but i would blatenly go the wrong way, lol.
Stu_B Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Sounds like a great idea! I did the one at classic ford show last year in my wallowy cortina, was great fun
spitbarnatt Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 I'd be interested in having a go as you're not far from me
kevmk2 Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Sounds like fun, although i would have no grip as usual
escortmad79 Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 I used to do autotests in my gold mk2 Ghia with Torbay Motor Club, used to do wrong tests occasionally but it's a good laugh
Harry128 Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Wessie says his m8s up for it in his escort
fezza Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 sounds like fun! but i would blatenly go the wrong way, lol. Im with mossy on this one,im getting lost every time If my cars done when this event is on im there
MexDan Posted January 9, 2008 Author Report Posted January 9, 2008 OK well its great to hear some of you would be up for this!!! Yeah agreed the map above is pretty complex!!! We have had a number of formats in the past but it seems to work best as - some 'simpler' tests with just a driver - more complex tests with a navigator (passenger) - finally two cars taking on each other in a head to head type test (obviously not on the same circuit!!!).. bit difficult to explain!! but obviously it all depends on numbers!! Any more for any more????
MexDan Posted January 14, 2008 Author Report Posted January 14, 2008 OK cool, well it sounds like there is an interest for this sort of event thumbsup: It would take place in a field.. Now before you all go it is VERY flat and very tested, but I can fully understand people with concourse cars not wanting to do it as it will get dusty. But on the plus side you wont have to bring tyres to drive home on!!! I will have a look at dates (dodging round Ford fair, OSFDC etc) and let you all know preliminary dates. Cheers
FlashCadillac Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 those little lines that i think would represent a wall between two barrels.... how soild are they.... how many people drive through them as whos used to breaking on a dusty field sounds a good laught but i dont fancy driving through a wall
Messenjah Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 co#rrect me if im wrong but arent those lines tht flash is talking about just there to represent cone gate not "a wall between two barrels"
tim Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 the solid line between the cones is a line you have to stop astride ie front wheels over the line only
john_3.0s Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 tarmac or grass? grass is mush kinder on tyres and suspension! count me in, although if the mex isnt done ill be asking u to open the cones out a bit if im in the granny!
tim Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 this is the same sort of thing that happens on the retro ford gt at gaydon in april
MexDan Posted January 14, 2008 Author Report Posted January 14, 2008 tarmac or grass? It'll be on grass mate, as you said much more forgiving in lots of ways!! a wall between two barrels.... how soild are they.... Definately no walls anywhere for people to crash or slide into!! Had an email today from Classic Ford Mag and they said they would be interested in coming and doing an article on the day!! Get those handbrakes dialed in guys!!!
