Not that he can see it anymore

Was told by some old welding guys tea is the way, what can't tea solve??

Hope you see better soon n bet you never do that again, just wearing safety specs can stop arc eye as the plactic stops the UV getting through, i wear safety specs under my auto mask so i can grind and then if i flash myself i can get away with just seeing spots

i build CNC plasma cutters which will cut 40mm steel, and they can give you a bit of nasty arc eye. i once went home after using one for a whole day cutting 30mm plate and had sunburn all over my face from it apart from where i had my dark glasses on :evil::lol:

I use a plasma cutter most days of the week and never use eye protection. I've never got arc eye or sun burn.

I also weld most days and my face and eyes burn easily when not wearing a mask which I have done occasionally when doing the odd tack, so always make sure I do wear one now.

That sounds painful, but I can touch my eye without it shutting, it's something you have to get used to wearing contact lenses.

it's a reaction that makes you blink to protect your iris to keep shit out! once you've got a lump of metal in your iris, you blink, your eyelid touches the shit in your eye, making you blink etc etc!! allthe time you are continually blinking, you're cutting up the inside of your eyelid on the sharp shard embedded in youe iris! took 24 hrs before i went volunteraly to casualty!! i didn't care about the needle in my eye or the fluroescent shit running out my nose, just wanted the pain to stop and to go to sleep.......took 3 days........give me arc eye anyday!!!

Ahhh.... much better now thanks guys. Still gonna wear sun glasses for the day as it is a bit tender and sensitive to light! God, it does feel like hot sand being rubbed in your eyes!!

I also had a metal shard in my eye a while back, i was wire brushing a seat mount that i had just welded and a bit of hot metal flew into my eye. It was only tiny but FOOK!!! that was another trip to casulty and had some bloke poking around in my eye.

Note to self. .... must be carefull in the future!! being blind is not very nice!!
