Boreham Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 I hated to see that MK1 RS 2000 cover car RUINED ....like that. IF IT HAD BEEN A BOG STOCKER..... A 1300e OR SOMETHING..BUT A RARE LOW MILER..... I think it was sacrilage....
quickrack Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 Agreed. Lovely car in its own right! Owner can do as he pleases with it. But a mint MK1 RS2000??? Breaks my heart and I never owned a standard one for more than a few hours.
Admin Vista Posted July 8, 2008 Admin Report Posted July 8, 2008 Owners car, his call! My own mk1 RS2000 is pretty mint and is far from stock. I'd be pretty ticked off if someone called it ruined. One mans meat is another mans poison an all that.
tim Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 who cares wat hes done to it along as it gets used and not just cleaned
Posse Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 who cares wat hes done to it along as it gets used and not just cleaned let it have it
4parajon Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 Scott's right, its his car and what he does with it is up to him. Thought it was lovely myself and I'm not a big fan of the mk1
brettp Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 i dont even bother reading articles about standard cars whats the point you know everything there going to say and lets face it what would you rather drive an old car that couldnt beat a new fiesta or one that could piss over an rs focus
morcheen Posted July 8, 2008 Report Posted July 8, 2008 who cares wat hes done to it along as it gets used and not just cleaned let it have it he can be seen driving it to work in n/london , he's not scared to drive it hard either .more toys in the pipeline too
Admin Mk2Jo Posted July 8, 2008 Admin Report Posted July 8, 2008 who cares wat hes done to it along as it gets used and not just cleaned Could not have put it better myself His car, His choice ... I think it is superb and deffo not ruined

oldbus Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 Ruined????? Come on, you´ve got to be joking? Great car made even better, if you ask me!
Boreham Posted July 9, 2008 Author Report Posted July 9, 2008 surprise....surprise..... No apprication for a Mint standard mK1 RS 2000.... I'm not a concourse "Buff"....just like to see a standard RS model in time warp condition... I never eluded that it wasn't his car...... And with plenty of money to throw at any escort "IT'LL LOOK THE DANGLIES" I believe that it's very unfortunate that it was a low miler RS2000....i THINK i'VE STATED THAT ALREADY.... qUESTION.... put all that work into a standard shell....do ye think anybody would give a Flying f*£*^ that it wasn't an RS...... THEN IT WOULD BE A CASE oldbus Great car made even better, if you ask me!. interesting feed back

Boreham Posted July 9, 2008 Author Report Posted July 9, 2008 THEY WERE MENT TO BE STRONG..AS THAT'S HOW i FEEL ABOUT IT... Just wanted to see had anyone felt the same...that's all... BUT i'VE BEEN BOMBARDED with the "it's his car......lark" I've an early compression strut MK1 (1300GT/TWINK)and it's been cut for arches.... but as it's an early car..I'd like to keep it standrad for posterity if nathing else. I've young lad that...I hope would love to know/see the difference. I'm into modded cars as much as anyone(needs to be included in the event of further upset) and I intend to build a 1300GT tin top racer... but it'll be a bog stock deluxe 1100 with mountain's of work. Anyont got info on using percrossflow head on 1300 crossflow....as BROADSPEED did.....? thanks
Monkfish Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 One of the best classic Fords I've ever seen. It's mind boggling the commitment (not just financial) that's been placed into this car's build. Mark knew he'd get a few people raising an eybrow at the fact he was using a mint RS as a base, but it wasn't bought with an angle grinder in mind. It was bought as a supreme example of an iconic car, that Mark wanted to evolve after owning it however many years and mostly watching it sit in the garage. And it's certainly going to get used now... If he'd spent that much cash doing the same work to an 1100, would people be saying, "Yeh mate, but it's not an RS..."? Probably!
4parajon Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 BUT i'VE BEEN BOMBARDED with the "it's his car......lark" I would'nt say 7 replies constitutes being bombarded

mk2_escort_chick Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 who cares wat hes done to it along as it gets used and not just cleaned Nail hit well and truly on the head there!

HoTWire Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 OMG He ruined the only mint RS2000 in existence.... It can never be replaced!!!!!! wait.... hold on.
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 Anyont got info on using percrossflow head on 1300 crossflow....as BROADSPEED did.....? thanks I am going to stay out of the debate regarding the Escort, but I will try to answer your question regarding the pre cross head. I have in effect the same setup in my Anglia, although the block is the rare 2730e (first of the crossflow blocks). There are two main differences between Pre Crossflow & Crossflow. Pre Crossflow: 1. Inlet & Exhaust manifolds on the same side of the head. 2. Flat top pistons with combustion chamber in the head. Crossflow: 1. Inlet & Exhaust manifolds on opposite sides of the head. 2. Bowled Pistons with a completley flat head (Combustion chamber in the piston). What you will need to do is fit Pre Crossflow pistons (flat top) in a crossflow block. Now, if this is being fitted in an Anglia, and you are using a 711M block, you will have to mill down the mounting lugs for the engine mounting on the exhaust manifold side of the block to enable the engine to sit level on the crossmember. The 2730e and 681f blocks already have shorter lugs. You will then have to use a Pre Crossflow head gasket (There are differences between Pre Cross & Crossflow head gaskets which I have found out the hard way), and then bolt a Pre Crossflow head down on top. The head in your picture has been converted to a downdraught head which isn't the same as a standard Pre Cross head and is an awful lot of work. I know someone who is actually making his own Broadspeed downdraght head... it's a work of art it has to be said I hope this info is of some help
tim Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 this is a broadspeed downdraugh head as for the rs2000.yes they are few and far between and concourse mint ones are even more rare but if your goin 2 do a project like that you want the mintest shell possible and some people want rs's to mod because its an rs,i know my next project i want a real twin cam to start with
