mk14dr Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 2.1 zetec bottom end, CVH TURBO head Not quite as easy as bolting the two together. There's oilways and waterways that need blanking/diverting, and a fair bit of other work and parts sourcing, but, when its all together and working they're stonking lumps. Just not 'ford produced' My personal favourite, is the 351 windsor (basically an overbored 289/302). Awesome mill, used in everything from ambulances to dragsters. Infinately tuneable and as easy to work on as a xflow D
countrybumpkin Posted October 2, 2008 Author Report Posted October 2, 2008 this is good we are getting some differnt and intersting engines and some comon ones, i always thought that most people would say the x/flow mainly just because its been arround for so long. i suppose i should add what i belive is the best engine, i'm going to go with pinto even tho i think the design is abit poor what with having to tke the head off to change the cam

Infinately tuneable and as easy to work on as a xflow D 351w, is still the same bore as the 302, its got a 5/8ths stroker in it and a taller block, which is why its harder to get manifolds for the 351, CVH, pile of poo, as reliable as the local bus service , get a turbo and watch the sump gasket fall out as it ticks over,
NginEEr Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 but really what ford engine is really reliable they all have there strange faults but thats why i love em

Takeshi Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Hm... I do like the X/Flow, but I'm going with the Pinto
Lukey48screamer Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 What sort of question is this? Its the N/A Cossie obviously...
Fiesta Steve Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 I'm not allowed to say DFV 'cos thats Cosworth, so it has to be the x-flow. I'm no historian but I imagine its been very succesful in competition over the years and are still going strong in modern Fords albeit with some minor mods
hellblue Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 As my 24v lump dont count cos its not pure ford It has to be a BOSS 429 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boss_429

DarrenM Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 390 boss its got enough talk to pull a house down they never did a 390 boss, they where 302's and 427's the 390 was the gt 1967/68 (bullit mustang) The BIG Boss was a 429 My vote is the Ford small block V8 but I'm biased!
