lotusless Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 i liked looking at all your old photos so much it gave me inspiration to dig out my old photos + stick them on here (it did take a while though!) these are some of my old cars. as ive had 5 or so anglias, about 10 mk1 cortinas, lots of mk2s, mk3's some 4's + 5's, mk1+ mk2 granadas ,mk1 +2 escorts inc mexico + rs2000, 5 consul capris, + many more osf's.my last car a police mk1 lotus was brought back to police spec on a very tight budget (carers allowance!) its nice to see it about at shows but i do miss the old girl.I even got to drive around goodwood a few times as part of the revival, on the parade lap i was behind tiff needell with stirling moss to my right, not for long though!! great times i also did many police shows around the country which often meant a police escort so we could have our blue lights on + sirens!!!!. I have read posts on here from OLDSCHOOLGEEZER,- DAZZA, + ESCORTOSIS about the old days of the chelsea cruise then palace tea stall, well i was a palace regular for many years + know most of the people talked about, i was a friend of black tony + i had one really good thick snow covered night drifting his mk1rs2 around sth london, funny thing was he took over driving after a couple of hours + the first thing he did was hit a parked car!, not funny at the time. also PUDDY if your reading this do you remember me + you driving round the cruise both with our white n green mk2 lotuses, many years ago now. did anyone on here come on our mad runs from palace down the A22 along to gatwick A25 boxhill -A217 sutton,+ back to palace a mad blast not for the nervous. sometimes there would be twenty cars on these runs (honestly)how we never all got locked up i dont know, we even had a z28 camaro tag along one night it was really funny to see this massive engined car trying to keep up with escorts on the bends!.anyway enough of me waffling on over to you lot if any of this means anything to you contact me for a good chat or better still some photo's.................. p.s i hope my photos come out right because there is quite a few NEIL

johnny_h Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 I was a young jedi when I last went to the chelsea cruise, aged 16 around 1990. My mate just bought a vauxhal viva from maidstone car auctions and chopped the roof off with a style saw. It was the height of summer and we were having it large in our new convertible. The only car I can remember is the desert storm saffire. I have vague memories of a mk2 with bmx registration but I could have seen that on a poster. I love the Chelsea cruise and hope it's still going this summer.
