Nick Mexi-cos Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 Mine was very low mileage block hadnt been use much at all , Mines been taken out to 86mm with my crank it makes 1951cc it's still got one more bore in the block and from what ive been told it will take 87.5 mm which would take me over the 2000cc think it works out at 2020cc , This all could be a rumour though! Wayne talks about it but are sure it exists? Hehehehehehe iam sure it does somewhere , cars not being built for qtr mile doubt i would get anywhere near your times mate , built for track and sprint
v8cortina Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 Burton Power have quoted just over £1300 for the 2 litre xflow block. Should be available end of October early November.

Davewrc Posted August 31, 2010 Author Report Posted August 31, 2010 I had a reply back from Real Steel for the 2.0L Block So time will tell what actually comes about. Hi Dave! I just got the price reply back. They do not have the blocks until the end of October / start of November ......... £1,329.82 inc. v.a.t. At least that is the price given at this point in time @ today's exchange rate. delivery time would be 8 - 10 weeks. Thanks! Regards... Mark in sales. Hehehehehehe iam sure it does somewhere , cars not being built for qtr mile doubt i would get anywhere near your times mate , built for track and sprint Never say never mate - I want to come and stand by the side of the track to hear it bark past! I see your car featured in the WPE advert - very cool!
Toby Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 Will big stroke steel cranks still require the block to be machined? Yes you'll need to clear out a little for the conrods. The 84mm crank is a no-no in an L block - I did it but would seriously advise against it. It hits the water and the oil and takes a life times patience to fix. I think there is more height in the bottom of a later CF block so there's not the same constraints. I think 84mm is about enough stroke though, and a steel cam is adviseable as it needs reducing in 4 places.

Toby Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 What about in an AX block? will this still be getting close to the cam and the water ways? I think there is more room around the water in the crossflow and AX blocks - Wayne at WPE has just done one (if we are to believe him ) so I suspect he would have mentioned it if it was a problem. The cam still needs notching. I have heard of 82mm being done in L blocks without a problem with the water - the cam still needs notching.
5hane Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 i neeeedddd one of these babies also quite interesting to see how they come out of the cast's
bortaf Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 I like that as you say interesting to see them straight out of the cast
James HPE Motorsport Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 looks like i will have to cut a hole in my bonnet if these new 2.0L blocks are coming with that extra piece of cast iron off the bottom of the main caps!!! lol

jamie Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 I'm looking for a xflow block at the moment, would people recommend these? If so, I'll save some pennies. And some pounds!
Davewrc Posted January 31, 2011 Author Report Posted January 31, 2011 Surely you can buy them cheaper from a Ford Racing Dealer? Anyone I'm not interested if its not 2.0L
Toby Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Is this not the remanufactured block then? I thought they were going to be thick 'uns? Like the AX block - it's says re-manufactured - I'm amazed anyone would make a 711M standard thickness -unless it's for some rules
andypipe Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Is this not the remanufactured block then? I thought they were going to be thick 'uns? Like the AX block - it's says re-manufactured - I'm amazed anyone would make a 711M standard thickness -unless it's for some rules I think they are being re manufactured for Formula Ford 1600 and there fore are to original specifications
