after taking some time out to sort out where im going with my future cars, some of you may have noticed the v8 capri on ebay and hopefully it will be off to a new home shortly. I was going to get back onto 2 wheels but after the tragic death of a friend of a friend who has recently been killed on a bike, I decided for the sake of my family to stick to 4 wheels, and tonight i have driving round soggy surrey taking a look at what is now my new car.

when i left i did say i'd pop back and let you guys know what i end up with and that is what i'm doing, i am well aware that most of you wont like it coz it's japanese, but hey i'm happy with it and it will be my everyday drive.

I've just bought a 1991 Toyota MR2 turbo, mint condition 88,000kms on the clock and unmodified apart from a decat, boost guage and an HKS turbo timer for the princely sum of £2500.

i am aware that it goes against your religions as ford nuts but i need to move on and as soon as the capri is sold then some go faster goodies are in order.

good luck guys

It is great to hear from you again my right honourable friend and collegue. I hope you are well & a big "Happy New Year" to you mate.

Sorry to hear the Capri is for sale. I too lost a friend last year in a motorcycle accident, so I can understand your reasons for not going the 2 wheeled route (even though I still do):wink:

The car looks good mate, not too overdone, & I bet it shift's somewhat :D

Anyway mate, take it easy & all the best

thank you my right honourable pm jimbob and a happy new year to you all. I do still have addictive cravings for 2 wheels as they were my first love, but right now is not a good time and when you here news like that, you cant help but think of yer kids, family etc...

I will still come in and take a looky around and i'll refrain from bringing my new car up all the time

and jimbob, yes it does shift somewhat  i think standard the 0-60 time is just over 5 secs

Those MR2's are great til anything goes wrong with the engine...

They're quite good at blowing head gaskets too - not fun to fix when you think about where the engine is

if anything blows i'll just bung a steel gasket in there, and yes they can be a bit awkward to get at, but thats half the challenge

Ahhh, the 3s-gte, 600 bhp anyone :?:

Very nice Micky

sounds like you know them well steve, although the car is an import it's the same engine as the uk spec celica gt4, so parts aren't an issue, and yes oh so tuneable, 220 bhp as standard as its a revision 1 car, but yes 600bhp isn't unheard of.
