herb capri Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 SORRY GUYS BUT YOU LOVE CARS THAT ARE VALUABLE!! if they were vivas or solaras they would be worth zilch! you like cars that are icons you pay for fashion ,popularity, focus. you HAVE to pay the rate for them, the guy who recently made the mk 1 wings [and it wasnt cheap}will probably never reach a profit but he loves keeping cars on the road HE PAID FOR YOUR PASSION! ITS NOT PROFIT! ITS NOT SENSE! THAT GUY ,IS A HERO, i tried to make a clip for a car that is not in production,it would cost money.it HAS a market of less than 400 units and you cant buy it for less than 95 pence per clip,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but what you have ................oh f it call me
mk1super Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 1963 spot on mate look out for each other Herb iam not arguing the guy that got them wings reproduced is a legend, but them ones buying them up an then selling em for over £500 each are just taking the mick out of us. I dont mind paying but there comes a point when it gets silly an well out of normal peoples budgets I remember when folks was giving away old fords them days are long gone
norm1 Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 hi ,take a look at the instrument cluster in the classifieds in this months classic ford ,are they rearly worth £5000???
rallyesport04 Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 yea i see that 140mph dash 5k lol what a joker these sell for about £400 an thats far too much for a set of clocks to be honest i dont think £500 a set of wings is out of this world it wasnt long ago that mex wings were fetching 750 each the tooling an effort to make them must have cost a absolute bomb before even 1 wing was ever pressed as for prices of old skool stuff there are still some sensible prices out there you just need to look high an low i cant knock e bay cos ive sold parts on there for silly money cos some idiots have more money that sence
brettp Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 I know where your all coming from but how much would you sell your car for ? as much as i wanted to finish the rest of the osfdc this year a £600 diff rebuild ended the season for me 'Still it could be worst i could have blown 40k on a wide boy saxo thats now worth a tenner
Posse Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 things like this lol http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-anglia-/ ... 500wt_1413

banarama Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 who the hells going to buy that shit,id lob them straight over the hedge
FBF Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Herb carpri is talking sense, yeah bits are expensive but its all reflected in the value of the cars you own. You would all be moaning about how your car is worth a grand tops otherwise. Its all relative, if you cant stand the fire buy a fiat 126... Dont, they are shite.
deltamal Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 I agree with these silly prices people want, I have or should I say had a tight budget to pinto my mk2 and try and get it done before the weather comes (working outside) but that budget has gone way past what I had saved up! My brother needs a mk3'tina front wing, there was a NOS ford one on eBay with a buy it now of £600! Jokes! If I wasn't in such a rush I would have just collected parts as I went along aswell. I have used Escort-tec and G.S Escorts lots of times and can highly recommend them for good quality parts and prices. The Father in law bought a pair from Walker Jackson main ford dealer in Swindon in 1987, £30.00 each!
Andrade Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 things like this lol http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-anglia-/ ... 500wt_1413 right! not even 11 let alone 110
Andy44Boz Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 We're all helping push these prices up by doing what we do - being enthusiasts.2 yrs ago i bought a 105e,mot'd,standard but in need of work £650. Fair price i thought, but the origional invoice from new was only £629,no miles, and no rust included!!Who'd sell their beloved for anything near it's origional value now? Tidy fords these days go for 10's of times what they were new because everyone wants one and there are those that can afford and will pay what's asked, for parts as well. It's us less-well-off that then miss out BUT there are a lot of cracking good cars out there that we can invest in now which will go the same way when others think they're becoming cool, just look at mk1 fiesta prices.Fashion costs

Back then it was probably 6 - 8 months wages (if not more).
PlopPlop Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 gotta be bad when a bare aluminium block for a pinto costs the same as a complete turn key 430 bhp aluminium engine for the latest corvette.
Doc Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 Its a scene tax ! I fully understand people that make a living from it and providing a service as the scene would be dead without it , but its fact the days of going to a breaker tearing an engine out and slinging it in your car for £30 are over . There is nothing cheap in this country and it will never change . That's why this one im building will be a keeper .

Very true, we had some good mates that ran a great breakers just outside of Guildford, they shut it down a couple of years ago due to the ever more ridiculous health and safety laws / costs that were involved. It seems to me though that the osf and vee dub scenes have been most heavily hit. puddy
mk1super Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 to be honest i dont think £500 a set of wings is out of this world it wasnt long ago that mex wings were fetching 750 each Mate my gripes thtat they can be bought from some places for 480 for a pair delivered. The bloke on ebay was selling em 1 each for bids over 500 per side gotta be bad when a bare aluminium block for a pinto costs the same as a complete turn key 430 bhp aluminium engine for the latest corvette. Exactly mate cos they know some daft bugger will pay that far too many daft fookers with too much cash involved in osf scene And i bought my escort before they become "trendy" However it seems budget and escort dont fit in same sentence anymore An that fool trying to sell twink clocks for that price needs a slap, Classic ford needs a joke section in its classifieds just for people like him an the seller of the fooked anglia rear lights
stuartp Posted October 24, 2011 Report Posted October 24, 2011 Its all relative, if you cant stand the fire buy a fiat 126... Dont, they are shite. I used to have a 126 - great little car, weighs nothing, rear engine, rear wheel drive = fun Believe it or not I checked recently and the prices have shot up to silly money on decent ones
quickrack Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 Took me 4 years of searching to build up my estate cos I WONT use ebay etc. Stupid prices. Lousy descriptions etc. I keep lookin till I find what I need at a price I can pay, then I ask "what else have you". And yes G,S. Escorts are dead sound to deal with. When I ran out of places to look Grahme got me what I needed
oxb1l Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 This post sums up why I won't buy another osf Yes I'm lucky enough as have 2 One I inherited and another was £200 The money I've spent has been ridiculous some people are great that you could call on for a favour But I'm not into mine is better than yours I just want to see old stuff on the road and help people do so if j can without getting the pi55 taken Bill
rallyesport04 Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 ]Mate my gripes that they can be bought from some places for 480 for a pair delivered. The bloke on ebay was selling em 1 each for bids over 500 per side that just taking the pi55 i only paid just under £500 for the pair it does help to shop about i remember my first mk1 escort build i give over the top prices as i didnt know where to look but nearing the end of the build you get to know the good an the bad
