tt capri Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 I do'nt know how you other people that are in the building game are getting on , but from my point of view this is the worst i have known it in nearly 30 years of being a self employed builder , in fact it's fookin drastic up here in the North East and i really cannot see it improving much in the near future , people are scared to spend and can you really blame them when everybody's getting hammered one way or another of this government , Bring the revolution on Chris
Stiggy Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 Revolution ??? Pah the country is full of apathetic "it'll be al right" numpties. It only the kids that revolt when they need new trainers or new tele, oh and want to watch Maurice Reeves shop burn to the ground
theloudboy Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 I drive a shell tanker and we have had over 100 drivers been made redundant since the start of the year and it ain't getting any better, people are buying less and less petrol.
deltamal Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 Local elections coming up, the only way that I can see to give the two 'main' parties a kick up the arse is to vote for an outsider party ukip or greens, if you don't vote they think they are ok and you just can't be bothered.....
willsy Posted May 3, 2012 Report Posted May 3, 2012 no there on there own little milking planet and were the mugs being milkedlike cows. anarchy is required ASAP. that is all Want to end up like Greece? you crack on!
JAY PS Posted May 3, 2012 Report Posted May 3, 2012 In our game (car bodyshops) are closing at the rate of 10 a month ,its the quietest ive ever seen the trade which ive been in since 1990 . Some big shops have gone recently and insurance companies are now holding remaining work to ransom to get the jobs cheaper still . In my view the one big thing to kick start the economy is to slash the tax on fuel ,which will put money back in peoples pockets and they will travel and spend again in turn keeping jobs going and may be creating a few along way. Sadly it may be too late for some people in the trade but for us remaining its very bleak ,even this weather hasnt created work although accidents are still happnening .
Col-ashtonmobile Posted May 3, 2012 Report Posted May 3, 2012 If you stand still you will get bitten , our business is up and down , a really busy december followed by the worst january we,ve ever had , despite having to shell out on 2 vans latter part of last year because of this stupid LEZ law , we,ve cut down on our overheads , moved from the 3 bay unit we had to a smaller unit , i now do all engine work etc at my home in a garage/shed in my garden ( could,nt be better ) , punted round and got our insurance £900 cheaper from £2200 to £1300 and got better cover, reviewed our advertising and now save £540 without losing out , squeezed better discounts from our suppliers so we could win more jobs by doing them cheaper , and every week and end of month we analiyse how we,ve done to stay in the game . For us it,s working at the moment because we are not under so much pressure and are ticking over nicely and hopefully the good times will return ... wont they ???
zetecmk2 Posted May 3, 2012 Report Posted May 3, 2012 col, i live in your world nobody's got money to spend on hobbies...and we don't sell gas.....so if i can pay the bills and keep the company going through these hard times, i'm happy!! i'm gonna be skint working on toyota yaris' for insurance, or skint building osf's for petrol heads! either way i'm not rich....but osf's make me happy this time next year!!

Free car tax for expensive cars? Show me where and I'll consider buying one! Massive interest rates for the poor? How do the government have anything to do with interest rates? They're set by the Bank of England and even then, the banks don't have to follow them. Interest rate options are largely the same to any potential customer just don't borrow from the likes of wonga.com! I could go on pointing out flaws in your arguments but instead will make my own arguments Blame Labour, Over tax and over spend Massive increase in employment of money spenders (civil service and state employees) and ridiculous quangos with no parallel emphasis on money earners (business) Massive increases in the welfare budget, throwing money at people who don't want to work rather than those that genuinely can't work Borrow borrow borrow to fund all of the above (with the full knowledge that they can't pay it back) Dismantle border control and allow massive immigration in a blatant attempt at social engineering to boost the Labour vote among immigrant communities Allow poor and inadequate regulation of the banks Spend huge sums of money on supporting American foreign policy (no to mention the lives of British troops lost) Continued emphasis on multiculturalism and political correctness despite early growing evidence that it's not what the majority of the voters want. And local election results today again reveal that voters have such short memories of what a pigs ear they made of things.

Admin Vista Posted May 4, 2012 Admin Report Posted May 4, 2012 You get my vote Thanks but I've no plans to be a politician. I don't think any party gets the majority of the voters behind them so even if you're a member of the party that wins, as much as 60% of the population thinks you're an arse and that you talk out of it too. Politicians eh? Who'd be one? Hated whether they win or lose!

Hated whether they win or lose! nice one scott you do make sense, some of your post do make me smile though.... have you ever been to SPEAKER'S CORNER Speakers corner was one of the best laughs I ever had. There was a guy there preaching that Christians were all sinners and Allah would strike us down blah blah blah blah (this was in the late 80's long before all the recent Jihad BS). Anyway, he said it was all true as it was written in a book (he holds up copy of the Qu'ran). So, my mate gets up on my shoulders and we start reading him back readers wives letters out of Razzle, insisting that they must be true as they're written in a book. Coppers watching were laughing but eventually moved us on as the man with the towel on his head was getting visibly annoyed.

Times are hard due to Labour spending more than they were brining in. TBH most people during the last 10-15 years did the same, remortgage the houses, buy new cars etc. It's all debt, it's all got to be paid. I've seen the local election results and tbh it shows just how little knowledge and understanding many have of why were are, where we are.

Admin Vista Posted May 4, 2012 Admin Report Posted May 4, 2012 In my eyes I’m pretty sure maggie thatcher was the start of the fook ups and lots have tried to pick up the peaces but failed? Hmmmmmm, I know there are plenty of reasons for large numbers of people in the country to hate Maggie (miners for instance, even though their real enemy was masquerading as their friend, i.e. Scargill). But much like Cameron, she had to pick up an awful mess with an economy in ruins and much of the countries work force out on strike. During labours winter of discontent in 78/79 every one from Binmen, Firemen, tanker drivers and even grave diggers were out on strike
BaileyMex Posted May 5, 2012 Report Posted May 5, 2012 I'm not that up on politics, nor do I have any allegiance to any of the leeches But in my opinion, I think no matter who is either in power or gets into power, all of them have the same equal ability to fook it up again and again, Every time I hear a a politician on the TV make a speech or a 'Vote for me rally' all I think is they will spout out whatever b.ollocks they think people want to hear just to get the job, and it'll all go to the round ones once they get the job, Don't believe a word of anything that comes out of any of their mouths, Sorry just my opinion
