bigjohn Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 Do you reckon i should take my car up the strip at Classic ford show? It certainly wont look fast and i dont want to look like a numpty.
dalmarshall Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 I wouldn't have thought you'd look like a numpty, all sorts go up there from what I've seen. Go for it if you fancy it id say
Vista Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 If you want to have a go, then have a go. What have you got to lose? I'm sure you won't be the slowest and at the end of the day, it's all relative. Even the fastest of piston engined cars look slow when compared to the Jet car going up the strip with afterburners on.
JP. Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 First time I did it I hit 16 sec. The year after that after some mod's I'd hit 14.8 sec. The year after that after some more mod's I'd hit 14.2 sec. Last year after some more mod's I'd hit 14.0 sec. . Meaning, you won't look dumb, it just gets you addicted.. . Just do it!!
Jiffer Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 Just do it and enjoy it, slow, fast who cares at least you giving it a try and more OSFs up the strip
bigjohn Posted May 23, 2012 Author Report Posted May 23, 2012 I think i'll give it a go! see how i feel on the day. I would be hoping for somewhere in the 17's i'd be happy with that.

wigglychief Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 Do you reckon i should take my car up the strip at Classic ford show?It certainly wont look fast and i dont want to look like a numpty. I went up in my mk5 last year and got low 19's hopefully a little better this year due to having a better engine but the car still does weigh as much as a narrow boat so im not expecting much lol But yeah do it!!! Ill see if i can go against you and if you win then you obviously did something wrong when m.o.t.ing my car...
scootlife Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 yeah do it. i was getting high 16s last year and probably slower this year as might have pushchair in my boot !! Best £20 you can spend.. pull up against me and we should be similar so wont look that bad !!!
bozie Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 Don't worry how quick it all about the buzz I ran my focus 1.8zetec and got 17.?? A few years ago just want to beat that in my 1600 escort. First time in an OSF.
bigjohn Posted May 24, 2012 Author Report Posted May 24, 2012 Well, it looks like i'm going up. So, what do i need to bring?
FBF Posted May 24, 2012 Report Posted May 24, 2012 Dont hesitate. You never hear the crowd saying "why is he running that?" or "that was rubbish get off the track" People love to see the cars thrashed, no one gives a monkeys balls if your car is a 22sec heap, just get involved. Then you will have a time to beat next time and before you know it you'll be in the osf league
