Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted January 31, 2015 Moderator Report Posted January 31, 2015 Just seen this, from an old issue of Custom Car. uploadfromtaptalk1422720280325.jpeg Shitter of the month I love it. Maybe there should be a monthly poll on here too.
Admin Vista Posted February 1, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted February 1, 2015 Mad Chav, the Essex Road Warrior! Bet there's just a humble 1.6 Pinto under that bonnet!
irishtorag Posted February 1, 2015 Report Posted February 1, 2015 or a humbler 13xfow with a cherry bomb to make it sound hard
cortina mk2 Posted February 1, 2015 Report Posted February 1, 2015 sad someone did that to such a nice looking car
Admin Vista Posted February 3, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted February 3, 2015 One just brought to our attention on Retards Club that surely trumps the 6 wheeled Fiesta Someone somewhere needs a public flogging for this one!! 1
HotRodMatt Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 Long time ago but this was the first car Andy Saunders built, called Bird Puller I think. Google him and check out some of his other builds. In particular Runaground, Indicision, Rainbow Chaser, Claustrophobia, the X2000 and Mentley Insane to name a few. Plus the lowrider bomb but I can't remember what that was called. The work and quality that he puts into them is astounding. No really, this Mk1 was how he started, his more recent cars are far superior.
dalmarshall Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 I wonder how these started out.....I mean was it a conscious thought that I'm gonna do this this and this.....pukka that'll be!! Or was it.....right I've cleared out the garage and this is what's left, let's put it together and see what happens 1
Admin Vista Posted February 3, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted February 3, 2015 Yes I know of Andy Saunders and remember the weird looking Allagro thing he did (amongst others)............but he really dropped a bollock with this monster! More pics of it here http://www.andysaunders.net/car/bird-puller/ 1
HotRodMatt Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 Probably a very good modified show car back then, but it hasn't aged well. Not that anyone could have predicted his career and future generations discussing it. Got to say though, one of my least favourite cars of his.
Admin Vista Posted February 3, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted February 3, 2015 you're being very tactful
dalmarshall Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 Just Googled Andy Saunders cars and on the strength on the images it brings up they're all just as 'out there' as that one ....convertible allegro...wonky 2cv. ...hmm
HotRodMatt Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 Yeah they're all a bit crazy. Check the website Vista linked to, some good info and before/after pics. Allegro is another I'm (tactfully)not too keen on.
Admin Vista Posted February 3, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted February 3, 2015 He's been linked in to the discussion on our FB page and is none too happy about some of the comments. I think if you're going to modify something to that level, which even then must only have been popular within the customising scene, you need to have pretty thick skin.
HotRodMatt Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 Well it has been 35 years since the Escort was done, give it 35 years from now tastes won't be the same either. Who knows, maybe even the south London look could be ridiculed! Maybe...?

Who knows, maybe even the south London look could be ridiculed! Maybe...? 175/50/13's? I'm happy to ridicule them now.......................runs and hides As to that look of the period, even then it only appealed to a small minority who were in to the customising scene. I was young then but I do remember the period and it wasn't cars like this that got my attention, nor anyone that I knew then or in the five or six years that followed. 2
HotRodMatt Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 Yes definitely an acquired taste. Lol
SmokeEm Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 I loved Andy's work in the 80's n 90's and indeed had most on my wall in my room but I too had never seen that MK1. God its awful but I forgive him for his work since. Loved his Bentley the most 1
HotRodMatt Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 I read he cut the roof into 42 pieces to get it to flow with the Mercedes rear window on that Bentley...
Admin Vista Posted February 8, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted February 8, 2015 Gone quiet on this thread for a few weeks, no-one got anything to add to it? Just as well I have a few more up my sleeve Barely still recognisable as a mk2 Granada this one! MOT expired in March 2014 so probably still around
