Distastefully Modified Old Skool Fords - Show us your worst!

Long time ago but this was the first car Andy Saunders built, called Bird Puller I think. Google him and check out some of his other builds. In particular Runaground, Indicision, Rainbow Chaser, Claustrophobia, the X2000 and Mentley Insane to name a few. Plus the lowrider bomb but I can't remember what that was called. The work and quality that he puts into them is astounding. No really, this Mk1 was how he started, his more recent cars are far superior.

I wonder how these started out.....I mean was it a conscious thought that I'm gonna do this this and this.....pukka that'll be!!

Or was it.....right I've cleared out the garage and this is what's left, let's put it together and see what happens

Probably a very good modified show car back then, but it hasn't aged well. Not that anyone could have predicted his career and future generations discussing it. Got to say though, one of my least favourite cars of his.

He's been linked in to the discussion on our FB page and is none too happy about some of the comments.

I think if you're going to modify something to that level, which even then must only have been popular within the customising scene, you need to have pretty thick skin.

Well it has been 35 years since the Escort was done, give it 35 years from now tastes won't be the same either. Who knows, maybe even the south London look could be ridiculed! Maybe...?

175/50/13's? I'm happy to ridicule them now.......................runs and hides

As to that look of the period, even then it only appealed to a small minority who were in to the customising scene. I was young then but I do remember the period and it wasn't cars like this that got my attention, nor anyone that I knew then or in the five or six years that followed.

I loved Andy's work in the 80's n 90's and indeed had most on my wall in my room but I too had never seen that MK1. God its awful but I forgive him for his work since. Loved his Bentley the most 8)

Gone quiet on this thread for a few weeks, no-one got anything to add to it?

Just as well I have a few more up my sleeve

Barely still recognisable as a mk2 Granada this one! MOT expired in March 2014 so probably still around
