There were two capris known as White Heat, one more tasteful than the other (by modern standards at least ) and I'd happily buy the first one if it were on the market today

don't know if this one still exists

But this one ended up being repainted pink before disappearing altogether in the late 80's. Still out there waiting to resurface maybe?

Yeah that's the one, the second pictures, not sure about it being pink lol. I remember that each of the sidepipes had white heat cut out of them! So cool for an impressionable 17 yr old with his first cortina mk2 that cost him a whole £70! I so wanted to make mine something special, and to me I did. Rostyle wheels with general grabber tyres, thrush hush box on my gt system, spot lamps, red light on the standard axle! Lancia front seats, air horns and the loudest radio cassette I could afford so probably about a tenner! Registration KTT497E, I will never forget my first car.

It's definitely the same car, look at the front bumper corners. Plus I found other pics of both incarnations carrying the same number plate.

The thread has digressed a bit (which is fine) as it was originally meant to be for modern builds that people thought weren't in the best taste, but instead we're talking about older period builds. They may not be fashionable by today's standards but most people thought they were very cool back then.

Who knows, if our various project cars are around in 30 / 40 years, there may be someone in a club of forum saying "What were they thinking?? How could they murder those classic cars with so many modifications to engine and suspension components?" Actually, come to think of it, some people think that already

Found a "nicely" modified Anglia so the 105e lovers don't feel left out

Can anyone work out what look he/she was going for with this?

Another more recently modified Granada. Being a fan of orange classic Fords, I actually quite like this one (bar a few trivial details) right up until the last pic, they're an acquired taste.

Its takes a lot of time, skill and dedication to destroy a car!

I appreciate the skill (in some cases), but when cars are modified to the extremes we have seen in this post you have to giggle.

I made a conscious decision years ago to mock others prides and joy, so I largely try to keep my mouth shut

I think when you modify something to the extreme, you have to be prepared to take both positive and negative feedback on the chin.

Not everyone likes what I did with my van but I take it in my stride. For instance, the guy I bought it off said, just before we left with it, "you're going to ruin it aren't you?". Others have commented on the 3 door bonnet vents, the arches and the gold stripes. Water off a duck's back as I didn't build it for them.

And ordinarily, I quite like a van, also rather partial to orange.......................but holy mother of god!

Front look could be salvaged, wiper on the roof is a new one on me though? Head but the wiper motor when you brake hard?

Nice bit of engineering tucked away here but what standard has it been done to?

The whole thing is Mk1 Toyota MR2 with the body cut off and the Fiesta welded in place. Well, more or less the same place.

I know, looks convincing till you see under the skin though doesn't it?

Wonder what's under the bonnet? I guess it'll be very light at the front end.

Yeah it looks shit ;) Just kidding lol

Yours is subtle (see it at RR 2013) compared to the "custom" stuff that has been posted up and was all the rage in the 70s. You have to add something to make it yours. Just dont go fitting Mercedes headlights  :)

LOL....

That should have read: "not to mock others"

Guessed that :-)

You should have said hello at RR 2013. Always keen to meet people off here, especially those who post frequently enough for their username to stick in my memory (as you do)
