There is talk that Top Gear will be axed after Richards accident. We can't let this happen.

Sign this petition now, and send the link to anyone who will sign it, AND post it on all car related messageboards you know of.

(ps: I was about to set up this petition so it originated from OSF, but found that one was already set up).

The BBC has been trying to axe Top Gear for ages, this is the perfect excuse for them to do it

If that happened Clarkson will just put it onto a cable channel . Discovery or one of the others would snap it up as its the biggest show of its kind in the world .

More likely is there will be a toning down of stunts like the Drowning one or the Bob sliegh one . BBC wont want to lose the revenue from distribution worldwide or the video sales it generates .

Your probably right, hopefully someone else will buy it before the BBC tones it down.

I think Clarkson and Hammond would fight any watering down of the show .. :D

I read earlier today that if they BBC want to water it down, they will all quit the BBC, including the producer, who was responsible for the format it's in at the moment.

In clarksons own words today .

And i quote :

You can never tell after a brain injury what long-term implications there might be. He might have no sense of taste, or double vision. His teeth may go brown. Or he may be absolutely fine.

The only thing I knew was this: he was going to live.

And the next day after he said, “Hello C**kface” to James May, it looked like he might just win back everything else as well.

You’d think that the joyous news would silence the vultures circling the crash site since the accident, rejoicing in the fact that Top Gear had finally been taught its lesson that speed kills.

Somehow I doubt it though. The campaign to have us taken off the air — sparked curiously, by the BBC’s own news website — will now be ramped up, fuelled by the environmentalists and spearheaded by muddle-headed road safety campaigners.

Richard is winning his fight. And now mine begins. To make sure that he has a show to come back to.

Jeremy Clarkson : Todays Sun .

Looks that it may have more truth in the BBCs view than i thought

:x this was a freak accident, how often does a tyre blow, which seems to be the cause of his accident. Do they ban drag racing or even formula 1 because of an accident, NO. Richard would have been aware of the dangers in driving such a fast vehicle, if he wasn't happy he wouldn't take the risk. He is a true petrol head.

Having attended & participated in many Drag Meets/Run What U Brung's, (at York Dragway/Elvington Airfield - where Hamster did his stuff), I must underline that at all times you are made FULLY aware of the risks.

Bottom line is that 'Hamster' is a total 'Petrolhead Junkie' & will have considered & appreciated the risks involved, taken on-board the Safety Advice given, & decided himself that he did the run.

- MUCH AS WE ALL DO WHEN WE UNDERTAKE A FAST DRIVE.

Please dont let the Blairite 'Nanny State' thinking take over, or you will probably have to fill in a 4 page 'Risk Assessment' just to go to the toilet!

DONE.......... they can't change top gear, its one of very few car programs worth watching.......... with 3 normal presenters...... who say crap cars are crap and good are good without any worries.

Its good to hear RH is on the mend............ been there with my dad's head injury a few years ago.......stressful times.........

The BBC aren't going to axe the most watched show on BBC2, They know that any one of the other channels would snap it up.

that was my original view ! Cable would pay big time for it ! I bet Clarkson has already had a call from them .
