OSF Contributor Mexican Gerbil Posted August 8, 2016 OSF Contributor Report Posted August 8, 2016 There is something going around Retards Club. A few trackers have been found on cars after ford fair. An attempt to steal a mk1 escort, garage was broken into but car was moved. Report says a focus has been stolen. It's on the Essex ford meet page. Haven't found anything on mine ( nothing obvious ) 1
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted August 9, 2016 Moderator Report Posted August 9, 2016 So its gotten to the stage where you have to search your car for trackers before you leave these fairs now? How low can some people go?
colr6 Posted August 9, 2016 Report Posted August 9, 2016 Would imagine it been a very lucrative business for low life nicking people's pride and joy. You go to these shows knowing there is going there is the best of the crop attending.stick a box to it find out where it's parked knick it strip it. Let's be honest what part of a mint rs2000 mk1 could you not sell for a rediculous price. So what can we do to combat this, is it to be checking your car every time you come from a show, get confrontational to people looking under and around your car? You could very paronoid about people near your car or worse case scenario never take your car out. So no point in having one. Where is this going to stop.
Admin Vista Posted August 9, 2016 Admin Report Posted August 9, 2016 Stands completely roped off so people aren't allowed in to get close to the cars. But ultimately I'd still need to check the car physically just so I had peace of mind. 1

But ultimately I'd still need to check the car physically just so I had peace of mind. Can see your point on roped off but as we all know it's good to see how people have done things which you can't do 3/4 feet away. So these low life are going to spoil it for more than just the unfortunate owner of the car they've nicked. Also affecting the real enthusiasts who go to shows to see there dream cars up close. Sad times really!
OSF Contributor Mexican Gerbil Posted August 9, 2016 Author OSF Contributor Report Posted August 9, 2016 Hopefully it's all Retards Club nonsense.... I have a small pocket tracker but it will only work with a GPS signal ( mobile phone ) close to it. But it is tiny, size of a key ring and has a magnet on the back. I saw someone touch up my rear arches again. Just thought he was confused whether mine was a really Mexico, but could easily have placed a tracker there.
RWL81P Posted August 9, 2016 Report Posted August 9, 2016 a stolen focus, thats 1 less next year, heres a thing though, dont restore the classics, just bodge em up and nobody will want to nick them and the trackers wont stick to rust.
The Transplanter Posted August 9, 2016 Report Posted August 9, 2016 The joys of owning and OSF! It was much more fun when a MK1 RS2 was worth a 1000 quid
RWL81P Posted August 9, 2016 Report Posted August 9, 2016 i paid 250 quid for a mark 2 rs2000 and raced the the shit out of it, round the streets round the local quarry across fields. all the other kids were out nicking them, i bought my own and didnt give a shit if i put it on its lid as they wasnt worth a great deal. was much more fun when they wasnt worth 20 grand.
Admin Vista Posted August 9, 2016 Admin Report Posted August 9, 2016 Hopefully it's all Retards Club nonsense Unfortunately not:
OSF Contributor Mexican Gerbil Posted August 9, 2016 Author OSF Contributor Report Posted August 9, 2016 Was just about to post the same thing. bad times
RWL81P Posted August 9, 2016 Report Posted August 9, 2016 dodgy bastards! was talking to my pal the other day about trackers although the thatchem approved type, or lack of them. theyre not that expensive so get em fitted. also an old cheap i phone stuffed in the bulkhead with a permanent charge, you can track these to within a street on find my phone. that way you can turn up with a van full of lads and kick the crap out of them. 1
bigdaz27 Posted August 10, 2016 Report Posted August 10, 2016 The problem with trackers is they use gps, and gps blockers aren't expensive and some just plug in the cigarette lighter socket, I'm sure there not legal but if your stealing some poor sods car your not going to care, you can buy the type of trackers they use on eBay and unfortunately they cheep and pretty good
Savvi Posted August 11, 2016 Report Posted August 11, 2016 This is exactly why ive sold most of mine off now, cant see the point of owning a car I'm scared to use anymore. It seems whatever security you fit if they want it then they take it !!

chinkamon Posted August 13, 2016 Report Posted August 13, 2016 Cigarette lighter?? What's one of them!! Ha ford never bothered putting one in mine haha
Tackleberry Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 My cigarette lighter doesn't work....but I like the iPhone idea. As soon as it's in a container or lock up it'll probably lose the signal, same as Tracker signals. If they want it, they'll get it..... I had a real issue last year. They tried getting to mine on a couple of occasions and that's from the garage built onto my house!! Fortunately they failed even though they wrecked my garage door. I now sleep with one eye open...and and a big heavy baseball bat next to the bed. Only other option is to leave the missus inside of overnight...... hmm, there's an idea. 2
chinkamon Posted August 16, 2016 Report Posted August 16, 2016 Only other option is to leave the missus inside of overnight...... hmm, there's an idea. I thought that too! ( not ur missus, mine I mean ) Only problem is what happens when she has gotta make your morning cuppa, cook your tea, clean the house etc etc?! An when I told her about the possibility of having two missus one for the car an one for the house, she didn't seem too keen?? Odd things these ladies hahahahaha 2
Admin Mk2Jo Posted August 16, 2016 Admin Report Posted August 16, 2016 We all need to be extra vigilant I guess ... sad that it's come to this but a little extra security will definitely help. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

An when I told her about the possibility of having two missus one for the car an one for the house, she didn't seem too keen?? Odd things these ladies hahahahaha Would it have to be either or? Surely a rotational arrangement could be a possible compromise. One that showed an aptitude for windows could handle that side of things on both. One that was good with carpets could then also do both. And one that loves to scour the pots within an inch of their life would be good for the engine scrub and degrease. Frame things in the context of bringing in more help with the housework and garage maintenance and it should achieve a more positive response. PS. What does misogynist mean? Was written on a brick that just came through the window of the Mk2 4
chinkamon Posted August 17, 2016 Report Posted August 17, 2016 Haha hahahahaha that made me chuckle!!!
RWL81P Posted August 17, 2016 Report Posted August 17, 2016 thought women were good at multi tasking?
colr6 Posted August 17, 2016 Report Posted August 17, 2016 thought women were good at multi tasking? Only when it suits...lol
accord83 Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 What, like nagging and stabbing at the same time......? 2
