Admin Vista Posted December 29, 2016 Admin Report Posted December 29, 2016 No im pretty sure we dont have any meat in a pie that you can eat cold. There is the traditional Aussie meat pie but its mostly beef with other parts of the cow they dont like to tell you about exactly and bits of rubber glove to give this chewy grisly effect. Perhaps you can corner the world market for Kangaroo pie?
SmokeEm Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 Oooh, now a Cornish Pastie is a thing of great beauty. I Love them!! Even though we only get Ginsters ones here in the SE of England, I guarantee you a genuine one will be the 1st thing I buy when I next visit Cornwall! Served with a bit of HP... Mmmmmm Heaven
khanlad Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 Not liking pork pies now pasties! Weirdo!
colr6 Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 Large Cornish with a bit of gravy.....YUM...YUM
Admin Vista Posted December 29, 2016 Admin Report Posted December 29, 2016 Not liking pork pies now pasties! Weirdo! I love pasties, I just make sure I buy decent quality ones rather than mass produced ones (Ginsters that SmokeEm mentioned being a prime example, the factory that makes them is only 10 miles from me).
2512pf Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 Can't say I've ever had a hot pork pie, doesn't sound real inviting to me. Got to be cold. Don't drink so C is out. Next question, with or with Branson ?? Is that Richard Branson lol
aardvark101 Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 Large Cornish pasty on the beach, behind the windbreak, sand for garnish... quintessential English holiday 1

We shall expect a decent quality pastie or two at CF show We only get Ginsters so no choice
colr6 Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 We shall expect a decent quality pastie or two at CF show We only get Ginsters so no choice As long as there not the same price as they were at Silverstone !
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted December 29, 2016 Moderator Report Posted December 29, 2016 Perhaps you can corner the world market for Kangaroo pie? You cant eat something thats on your country's coat of arms. That would be like eating the Queen! Have hit a few in the Escort in my time though. We are South but we arent "the deep South" so road kill and the Aussie equivalent of possum grits isnt all that popular. We seem to get every one of your celebrity chefs here at some point, so maybe they could work with that as the "alternate red meat" and gross out British viewers?
Admin Vista Posted December 29, 2016 Admin Report Posted December 29, 2016 You cant eat something thats on your country's coat of arms. That would be like eating the Queen! I'm sure I saw Kangaroo Steak on the menu last time I was in Oz? Eating the Queen? Ewww! No thanks I prefer my pie a lot less aged (and neatly trimmed ) 1

No thanks I prefer my pie a lot less aged (and neatly trimmed ) Yeah ok you got me there. Its a very lean meat and I have eaten it. Trouble is that if you overcook it it goes tough but when lean its still a bit too pink for my liking.
aardvark101 Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 Seriously dude, there is nothing wrong with eating pink
Ray Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 And all the lips, ears, eyebrows and bumholes! So not so different to Cornish Pasties in that respect maybe?! are they still known as tiddy oggies in Cornwall Scott, (not sure ive spelt it right)
Admin Vista Posted December 29, 2016 Admin Report Posted December 29, 2016 Oggies, yes definitely. Tiddy is the Cornish equivalent of the Scottish Tattie (Potato) and you don't commonly hear people asking for a Tiddy Oggy today.
Ray Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 when i was younger, all the family holidays were in devon or cornwall, and there used to be many a shop selling cornish pasties and refering to them on the signs as tiddy oggies, and for years my parents, uncles and aunts etc used to refer to them as that back in essex
Admin Vista Posted December 29, 2016 Admin Report Posted December 29, 2016 The story on the term "Tiddy Oggy" is convoluted. Some will say it's a standard term for a pasty, while others say it refers to a potato only Oggy as was common for the working class who couldn't afford meat back in the day. Think 18th Century Poldark era.
deltamal Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 A proper pork pie should be eaten cold, with a dash of salt and MADE in Melton Mobery not a Melton Mobery style pie, I am a fan of Cornish pasties, difficult to find a good ones though, but I keep looking and trying!
Danish Posted December 30, 2016 Report Posted December 30, 2016 Oggies, yes definitely. Ah. When we lived in Devon (and we won't get into the Cornwall/Devon thing) there was a chain of shops called Oggie Oggie. I thought it was just a trendy made-up name.
Admin Vista Posted December 30, 2016 Admin Report Posted December 30, 2016 Oggy Oggy Pasty company are still around: http://www.oggyoggyfranchise.com/
colr6 Posted December 30, 2016 Report Posted December 30, 2016 Think I'm going to do a bulk purchase on these pies ready for the next show, seeing everyone is picking on me I will throwing a few of these at various members. I've got your numbers. So BEWARE I'll be coming in disguise, might be in an escort fitted with a zetec on bike carbs so I can blend in with all the other a......oles. So repent all your sins your maker is COMING !! Have a nice day you all.
aardvark101 Posted December 30, 2016 Report Posted December 30, 2016 So anyway thats pasties sorted then. As we are off to Devon next year...Cream Teas !!! Scones...or.. Sconns ? and should they have sultanas's in em, orrr be plain ...let battle commence
