Mr Sam Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 weve all heard it on the news right? i take it this doesnt effect propper cars........such as OSF's not that it effects me my engine was allready knackered and its in bits
mossy Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 my cars been affected, as well as about 7-8 people i work with in asda...
Pipster007 Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 Well my cars are always treated to Shell V-Power (don't know what the difference to that and the old Optimax is though)
mossy Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 first iv heard? tell me more a few of the supermarket chains...dont know about shell/esso ect... But they have had a large quantity of contaminated fuel delivered, which causes running problems in cars, causing them to stall and shudder.

James HPE Motorsport Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 Does that ethanol shit make cars more environmentally friendly by not making then run at all...... Cheeky fookers, they should have words with their lives
sambo Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I always avoided cheap supermarket fuels anyway!!
Admin Mk2Jo Posted March 1, 2007 Admin Report Posted March 1, 2007 I never, ever, ever put Supermarket fuel in any of my cars - always use ONLY Shell V-Power and never had any problems
Pipster007 Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I always avoided cheap supermarket fuels anyway!! Round my way, it's actually cheaper to go to Shell rather than use Supermarket fuel
Mrp Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 Well my cars are always treated to Shell V-Power (don't know what the difference to that and the old Optimax is though) The now branded V-Power is 99 octane Stable diet of my scooby. Supermarket fuel is shite thats why its cheap, even tesco 99 is crap it has the octane you want but is of a poor grade/quality
mk2 stu Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I've heard they've been using the blood of dead gypsies and now theres a curse on all the fuel used, the only way to save your cars soul is to run over a badger and offer its corpse to the chief of your local pikey site!
escort21 Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I always use cheap supermarket fuel...you lot must be scared woofters..
X-pack-Glyn Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I always use cheap supermarket fuel...you lot must be scared woofters.. thatl be why you only managed 60 bhp at the wheels mate now go and put propper fuel in it
Fiesta Steve Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 My engine make 153 bhp on cheap shit supermarket fuel
105Ian Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 Unless your car has a catalaytic converter fitted it should make no difference as the contamated fuel is destroying the upstream oxygen sensors. I work in a big main dealer and we have had over 60 cars all with the same fault from this bad batch of fuel ,as no oldskool fords ever had this system none of them should be affected. Cheers Ian
Deano1351 Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I was using sainsburys LRP but theyv stopped serving it, the cheeky b**tards, now iv got to put that lead replacement stuff in with the good stuff from texaco
PAUL MANN Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 WITH REFERENCE TO CHEAP SUPERMARKET FUEL ITS THE SAME FUEL AS ALL ESSO BP TEXACO WHAT HAPPENS IS THE SUPERMARKET GO TO THE FUEL DEPOT WHICH CAN FILL THEIR TANKERS FOR THE CHEAPEST AMOUNT WEATHER IT BE TEXACO 1 DAY AND ESSO THE NEXT THATS THE ONLY DIFFERENCE SO YOU GET A BIT OF ALL THE ADDITIVES THEY PUT IN SORRY FOR THAT BORING FACT
Durham Fiesta Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I was using sainsburys LRP but theyv stopped serving it, the cheeky b**tards, now iv got to put that lead replacement stuff in with the good stuff from texaco i was made to believe the sainsbury's lrp aint the same as old leaded petrol , and also the octane rating can't be guarenteed, is that right?
Dom Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 Anyone use BP Ultimate 102 Doogeryflop SuperMegaDuper?
X-pack-Glyn Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 i go to sainsburys becaue they sell LRP i had the "pleasure" of rebuilding several pinto heads after about 10-20k on that vile stuff, if youd have seen what i saw you really wouldnt let it within 100 paces of your engine, let alone run it on the stuff, god knows what is is they use as the lead substitute, iron fillings by the looks of what i see. i dont get all hung up about the unleaded thing, it affects cars with alloy heads far worse, i did about 4000 hard miles on my tuned pinto last year, with high octane unleaded and no lead substitute, i removed the head and the valves didnt even need lapping, the exhaust valve clearences were as the day id set em.
Guest MK1gaz Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 Yep the dodgey fuel is overdosed with silicone , it won't upset your points + dizzy though but the plastic fantastic posse are in trouble
