Other Classics We Own / Owned or Admire

Rally Pack 2000

Recommended Posts

There has been a few times I have come across unusual classics that caught my eye and have never seen before and would like to chat about. So thought it would be nice to start a discussion thread for everyone to post images of the other classics they own or those you don't but admire or like all the same.

Two vehicles now on Car SOS that they have restored I had never heard of before but I really liked them. One was their first episode with a Fiat 850 Spider. I had never seen or heard of this one before and what a terrific colourful little car. The rear is just stunning.

The other was from this latest season 7 the Peugeot 504 Cabriolet. 504s are pretty common here but again I have never heard of or seen this Pininfarina designed model. I cannot believe how good duel rectangular headlights look. Not many French designs catch my eye but this one really did.

So do you own any other classics or have any you really love or admire? Please post.

I’ve mentioned mine in previous threads, something I’d like to own. Pref the saloon or coupe whatever you want to call it but the estate would also be nice. Take the single cam 2300 unit out and drop a Jensen Healy twin cam in them for a little bit more grunt and the wow factor when you lift the hood.

There used to be one of those on the A127 near Southend, I wonder where it went?

There was one of those for sale at a show near me in mid July. Looked nice too, I didn't get a look under the bonnet though.

Technically,  the 504 cabriolet isn't a French design, it's Italian.

Oh, and they did a hard top coupe too

See there you go I had no idea a hard top coupe existed either. Many of the great cars you get in Europe I have never even seen before and find more about. Im sure we have some of these unique cars brought in privately but so few that no real information gets spread around. I definitely prefer the soft top though and the single really wide headlights dont look as nice either

How about a Marcos Mantis James, you heard of those?

I have heard of these actually. A forum member posted a thread asking for some information on one once. Its a bit too modern and lumpy for me. It has a later Supra / Z3 vibe to it. I guess its the traditional 60s/70s classics that draw me in the most.

I did know that the Ferenza was one you were interested in Col but I never knew of this Sports Hatch version. That seems like an incredibly rare model. It was for sale but what was the asking price?

No doubt not everyones cup of tea, and it would have to be after a fairly decent lottery win, but if I had the funds a 959 is my dream machine. Rare and classy....

Once my SC is back on the road, hope to see one in the flesh at some shows if i am lucky....

So if we are on this level I think I’d one of these, the XJ220, I was looking for the silver but found this green one which looked awesome

The difference is the Porsche worked well the Jag not so! The silver Firenza - love it - GM version of the RS2000? The Sporthatch not keen but you can see the link to the HSR Chevette. Now if we want to spend silly money, sign me up for a Porsche 918 Spyder - oh yeah!

I don’t think that it didn’t work well it was pretty much down to the crash in the late eighties!

I seem to remember them for sale for £30k half the price they were listed at and still had trouble selling them!

Which I could have bought one then lol

Any level is fine, whatever appeals or interests you and hopefully get info on cars we dont know much about. Anyone ever get to drive one of these? They are supposed to have really terrible turbo lag.

Here's another rare rectangular headlight Coupe I'm partial to. The Fiat 130 Coupe

edited.jpg

There is another I really have never heard of before. Its very long for a 2 door something you don't expect from Fiat. It just needs some slightly larger diameter and fancier wheels and it would be total exotic class. Fascinating!

And of course the  Alfa Montreal, here's one I prepared earlier 😎

😎

I was hoping you would post pictures. Simply the best colour for a Montreal. Most I see images of are red.

RP2000

Its an old Skoda from the late 80s to early 90s. Eastern European (Russian?)before VW took over.

Air cooled rear engine if memory serves.

It was my plan B if i couldnt afford the Escort that i bought.

Had a Trabant a few years ago too so yes, i do have strange tastes in cars.

Although that was a bad buy and never made it onto the road.

Oh air cooled Skodas? We didn't get Skoda as a brand sold here till well after 2000 so Im not familiar with what they offered before then. I first heard the word Skoda while watching the classic video The Vatanen Touch in the 80s. I always thought the love people have for Citroen 2CVs was really strange so that Skoda looks proper to me in comparison.

Is this a Trabant? I had to look that one up!

xj220 was supposed to be a 4wd supercar but ended up with a metro engine in it!

It's a Czech made Skoda, they were called the Estelle in the UK and predate the VW buyout of Skoda

The Fiat 130 Coupe is indeed a cool car. Have you heard of the Fiat Dino Coupe? Ferrari engined V6 from the 246 Dino. I love those, and the convertible variant, too.

The Montreal wss available in a lot of colours, including metallic, but many original metallic ones have since been repainted in other colours due to the poor quality of 70's era metallic paints. It's actually not that expensive to do as all of them were painted black internally and under bonnet so it's only the exterior colour that needs to change.

I know the Dino Coupe very well. I love those! Only seen them on TV restoration shows though never in real life.

Yellow is the best of the few colours I have seen though.

Yep, thats it.

Mine apparently was used in a film over here.

Problem was the logbook i got with it wasnt for the car i bought.

After doing a bit of homework it turned out to not be uk registered so was unusable in the uk.

Bought  it for pounds and sold it for pennies 🙄.

Live and learn.

Funny little car and would have another as long as it was UK registered etc...
