chinkamon Posted April 3, 2022 Report Posted April 3, 2022 Afternoon all Off to pendine sands for hot rod racing in may. I suddenly thought emergency breakdown recovery might not be a bad shout as I've only driven at most an hour away. This is 2.5 hours. I don't think I'll need it but bit of peace of mind Does anyone have any recommendations. Cheaper the better unfortunately Cheers
PeteRS8084 Posted April 3, 2022 Report Posted April 3, 2022 Green flag? Always the cheapest, never had too call them out thought, that's always the test I guess. Good luck! 1
Ray Posted April 3, 2022 Report Posted April 3, 2022 you get what you pay for in life unfortunately, AA is the best imho 1
chinkamon Posted April 3, 2022 Author Report Posted April 3, 2022 Last time I had AA they said my cover was only a certain type ( I forget which) an wouldn't look to repair,.or maybe wouldn't recover me to my house, something really frustrating, said I'd need to pay a higher fee🤷🏻♂️

Admin Vista Posted April 3, 2022 Admin Report Posted April 3, 2022 RAC for me. I dislike the AA's Relay service with a passion. 2

All joking aside when work used to use AA my hire van broke down, they kept saying we'll be with you in 90 mins, then a call an hour later, same timescale an again an again, I waited 7 hours before my fleet department paid for a taxi for me to get home and leave the van in a layby, AA got a contractor out 11 am next day to pick it up!! I was reliably informed because I was male and in a layby on a A road I wasn't a priority
BaileyMex Posted April 4, 2022 Report Posted April 4, 2022 I've had a few over the years, RAC, Greenflag, and currently have AA cover, but I get my AA cover free with one of my bank accounts. Not had to call them out for a few years so cant comment on who is good these days. 1
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted April 4, 2022 Moderator Report Posted April 4, 2022 I went with the NRMA cause I figured they knew how to fix an Escort. 2
katana Posted April 4, 2022 Report Posted April 4, 2022 Car maybe owned by a Millennial - doesn't realise it needs petrol! 2
chinkamon Posted April 5, 2022 Author Report Posted April 5, 2022 So been looking at breakdown cover, majority of companies don't recognise my registration so that doesn't bode well, green flag and a few others said they can't cover me! How is covering a precrossflow harder than covering a new computer driven vehicle?? Is it because they're not mechanics, but just plug a computer in and see what it says people? So AA or rac I believe ☹️
