Afternoon all

Off to pendine sands for hot rod racing in may.

I suddenly thought emergency breakdown recovery might not be a bad shout as I've only driven at most an hour away.

This is 2.5 hours.

I don't think I'll need it but bit of peace of mind

Does anyone have any recommendations.

Cheaper the better unfortunately

Cheers

Last time I had AA they said my cover was only a certain type ( I forget which) an wouldn't look to repair,.or maybe wouldn't recover me to my house, something really frustrating, said I'd need to pay a higher fee🤷🏻‍♂️

thats the case with them all, you chose your level of cover

its all the other things you need to look at, like response times, thats all about the number of vehicles they have on the road coupled with who theyre partnered with etc, but i always make sure i have relay cover to bring me home or to a garage of my choosing, in the last 5 years i must have called them out at least 8 times, and theres never been any quibble, i re joined roadside some years ago (id let it lapse) when i was driving a covered in car transporter with a car in the back, was overweight, and they bought the whole lot back home on the back of a very big transporter no argument

i wouldnt use anyone else now, they have always has the first van out to me in under 30 mins

you get what you pay for in life unfortunately, AA is the best imho

As long as,

a) you aren't a doris,

b) alone,

c) its night time and

d) you tell the operator you feel vulnerable . . . . . . . . . then the AA will be fine !

All joking aside when work used to use AA my hire van broke down, they kept saying we'll be with you in 90 mins, then a call an hour later, same timescale an again an again, I waited 7 hours before my fleet department paid for a taxi for me to get home and leave the van in a layby, AA got a contractor out 11 am next day to pick it up!!  I was reliably informed because I was male and in a layby on a A road I wasn't a priority

I've had a few over the years, RAC, Greenflag, and currently have AA cover, but I get my AA cover free with one of my bank accounts.

Not had to call them out for a few years so cant comment on who is good these days.

So been looking at breakdown cover, majority of companies don't recognise my registration so that doesn't bode well, green flag and a few others said they can't cover me!

How is covering a precrossflow harder than covering a new computer driven vehicle??

Is it because they're not mechanics, but just plug a computer in and see what it says people?

So AA or rac I believe ☹️

Get your missus to take out the main cover and put you on as a partner for any car that you're travelling in.

This is what we've got with the AA.

Haven't got a misses now though 😂

Looking on topcashback like @DT36 shown, I can get around 45 quid back through them for cover so think I'll be going that route
