GrahamU Posted October 12, 2023 Report Posted October 12, 2023 I have a South African Import 1600 sport, I sent the docs off to DVLA to get it UK registered and it was rejected because the dating paperwork prepared by the MK3 Cortina was done using the VIN decode. The letter says I need to have a written, headed paper dating from Ford. I have tried calling but I just got told by a very unfriendly, unhelpful person that was the decision so it stands and it wont change. So, does anyone have a contact to go to at Ford for acquiring a date certificate of some sort, DVLA seem to think Ford UK will be able to do it. I have been googling but havent found anything promising yet, Thanks
Johnny Boy Posted October 12, 2023 Report Posted October 12, 2023 Do you have a SA log book, because they can use the date from that.🤔 That's how I did mine , no dating certificate needed. I'm currently registering another one, just using the SA log book as a dating evedence.
GrahamU Posted October 12, 2023 Author Report Posted October 12, 2023 Sorry, forgot to add that it didn't come with the SA log book
Xp197777 Posted October 12, 2023 Report Posted October 12, 2023 I think maybe Scott (vista)from this site would be able to help

GrahamU Posted October 13, 2023 Author Report Posted October 13, 2023 Phoned Fords today and spoke to someone who gave me an email address to write to in order to get a certificate of conformity for the car, she told me they dont deal over the phone, only through email, in case anyone needs it, the address is coc@forddac.co.uk, within a couple of minutes of sending the request I had a reply, just had to send photos of the complete car and the VIN plate and supply proof of ownership and they will now send the letter to confirm the build date next week, took no more than 5 minutes, so very pleased with Fords today. 1

katana Posted October 14, 2023 Report Posted October 14, 2023 I thought Ford had said, when enquiries were made from enthusiasts in the UK, that records had been binned many years ago? How is it now they've been found and in particular for vehicles built in plants the other side of the planet. SA records have been difficult to source with cars imported so all very peculiar to my mind! Its welcome if ALL the records are to become available.

GrahamU Posted October 19, 2023 Author Report Posted October 19, 2023 Received my letter from Ford today, its a Ford headed letter addressed to the DVLA that confirms that car with xxx VIN was built on xx date and signed, so the DVLA should not be able to argue with it Sent my docs off again so now a case of wait and see again.
