Something moody going on as car 'looks' to be the same but clearly different photos / studio / showroom ! ! Belgian ad describes it as Black when clearly its Midnight Blue ! And the door cards are wrong for an RS2000 - ok for a Mexico though! And the stripes stop at the cone whereas they should continue. Chassis plate looks 'good' but some of the letters and numbers don't look correct for that type of car - I maybe mistaken but its not ringing true for me!

Colour on VIN plate is X-8: Midnight Blue 1978.

Can anyone see who is advertising it on FB? The photos on FB are from a storage space, if you look at the auction-site there are more cars listed with photos from same storage hall. There was a viewing day last week so photos on FB are probably taken then. Could be a trader with connections in Belgium who tries to buy the car for say 7000 euro then sell it on FB in UK for double that. I know a few people who buy Escorts in Holland and Belgium and transport them to UK.

I think it started life as a base model (non-custom).

No centre console.

Ghia type seats in betacloth. (very rare in 2 door format).

Non tinted glass.

Mexico type door cards.

Alloys where an option on non-custom models.

It wouldnt have had the passenger side dash cubby hole/clock but loads of people added them back in the day including myself.

Could be a shrewd buy.

Maybe woth restoring and converting to RHD, an original RS2000 in UK even if its converted to RHD as we all know isnt cheap here in UK.

Its a base model, so had the POP type door cards, the LHD base models also had the clock pods, unlike the RHD base models.

The alloys fitted to it a laser alloys, not RS2 alloys, the door mirror is also wrong for a base model, but this stuff always got swapped about, when it was plentyful.

Looking at that Retards Club profile it looks like a propa scam

You sure, they look like laser alloys when you zoom in, completely different profile to RS2 wheels and the part numbers and stampings are a different format

GP1 wheels were ATS, And RS2 wheels were GKN. They look like Ford made wheels to me.

mk1 escort group 1 wheels were ats, some rs wheels were gkn but not all of them. the capri wheels are same as the rs wheels but the rs wheels have thinner webbing around the wheel nuts. these are the mk2 group 1 wheels, look how deep the webbing on the spokes are, it makes them a stronger wheel.

these are the mk2 group 1 wheels. 75 part number with year date on the backs, ford on the front and ATS on the back. deeper webbing to the spokes and extra webbing at the rear

What I meant was that normally we here in LHD country won't pay as much as people in UK buy for a Mk2 RS2. That's why most of the LHD Mk2's end up being exported to UK and then sold by the likes of works-escort .
