I have a mk2 Escort Ghia with a tuned pinto, owned and raced many Escorts back in the day, Also into my Lambretta scooters and classic minis as well.

All I know is that I've had the Mex since before the wife, and before the kids, and 22/23 years later I've still got the same car, and currently, the same family 😁

Similar here Col, though I had actually met my wife when I bought the RS, albeit only just, marriage came 3 years later.
