about spending a fortune on a crusty old car

 

my dads side appreciate it cuz theyre into cars.

my moms side thinkn im nuts

mt misus just supports me

 

i ended up in conversation with my uncle about what i was doin, upon which he quickly changed the subject and said 'i bet youd love a go in my new vectra'

 

well no not really unc, its not the same

my mum is used to my "unconventional" streak and thinks i'll grow out of it... bit late i'm 40....

My family dont really know what goes on with it coz they live quite far away, my Nan bless her keeps asking if I've been to any Rally's rcently, but thats about it

 

Gem's family however are used to me working on the car, her brother has always been bang into modifing his Mini's so it's no different really

 

They all love love the Mex and keep saying 'when you come over why dont you bring the Mex?'.......Simple! coz then I cant sample your finest Ice cold Stella

Other than my brother and 1 or 2 freinds nobody seems to understand the passion you can have for an old motor, the constant expense, breakdowns and heartach that go's with it all. Thats why I turn turn to here for Acceptance.

My mum thinks I should have grown out of it about 15 years ago, but I think im getting worse, the old man used to be into national hot rods so is well up for it, if he wasn't so unfit and in a bad way then I think he would be up to his elbows in Anglia

Have always been into cars so it's not a surprise to my mum and dad but they don't have a clue what it costs me

 

And, as you know, my other half has 2 RS's of his own anyway so it's not a problem

all my family seem to really like it, dad has actually offered to pay for the new headlineing too!! which is nice of him

 

all my mates seem to really like it too, altho most the girls are like "but its old"

My Mum, Stepdad, wife and kids all visit Santa Pod with me once a year for CF Show.

 

Wife and kids come along to events intermittently...

 

And don't mind a bit...

Seeing as me mum is driving me Mk5 cortina GhiaS estate as a daily i'd say she agrees with it all pluss it has free disabled tax so i dont have to pay to store it

Dad is disabled so he loves the estate cos his wheelchair fits in the back

The wife prefers our Mk5 saloon but drives a Mk4 escort estate as a company car (gardener) while they leave me the Mk3 cortina to enjoy

All in all even me grandad likes all me oldies (well they are newbys to him but he never drove so doesn't reallt care)

My Mrs is great about it, she loves old cars and actively encourages me to indulge myself (mind you she won't sanction a TR6 yet, reckons the mortgage and shoes for the nippers are more important.WOMEN!!)

 

However, she's not so keen on how much I spend on my season ticket at Stamford Bridge every year. Still, swings and round-a-bouts I suppose!!

I don't really care what my family think about my interests. My Brother actively supports my interest (he has to he keeps em on the road for me ) my Dad told me when I was younger never to buy a Ford. Now he drives a 2.9 Granny (me and Pudge's influence ) my Mum hasn't got a clue anyway

 

My other half has an OSF anyway and we met at a show earlier this year

My dad was never into cars, but he takes an interest in mine. His hobby was Scooters when he was in his late teens and 20s. He's 74 now and is thinking of getting another one!

 

My sister is into old Beetles and Veedubs so doesn't think I'm sad in any way.

 

My 5 year old daughter loves my van and shouts and anyone who criticises it in any way. She's started Mini and Beetle spotting when we are driving around, in the same way me and my sis used to do that when we were her age.

 

My wife....well.... she puts up with me. Just.

guys at work think im stupid spending all my money on 'a bag of old sh*t' my dad, every time he sees me in the garage working, all i can hear is him singing the professionals tune to me my mates think its the best car ever, but dont think ill ever finish it

missus hates it cause she thinks it will break down so gets me to drive me ma's astra everywhere. brother loves it and is looking for a pinto'd 100e, sis dont care ma dont care as she has seen me have a couple and at least this one moves, dad loves it but aint got a clue

My season ticket to Bradford City was £138 this year. Bargain!
