RSACapri Posted October 27, 2007 Author Report Posted October 27, 2007 Thanks for the comments!! The club is really growing in strengths. At the last 2 shows it got the best represented club award!! Yeh, love the little Anglia. Still original, except for alternator conversion, and a s/steel zorst. It's a 1964 Anglia, the 997cc model, 3rd owner since new. There were a couple of Perana's at the meet. I didn't take pics, as they have been pic'ed 3 or 4 times before.... But that Escort looks extremely good hey?!?! Like I said, scarce as hen's teeth... only the 2nd one I ever saw in SA!!
Admin Vista Posted October 27, 2007 Admin Report Posted October 27, 2007 Nice cars, and Perana why oh why did we not get a nice V8 capri from the factory
over_head_cam Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Excellent mate. Nice to see the old Ford scene alive around the world
RS26oo Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 It almost looks like the UK in the pictures till you spot the razor wire Great looking cars !!!!
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted October 28, 2007 Report Posted October 28, 2007 Nice pic's there mate I hope you still have your Capri??? Oh and that Escort Perana, is that a Pinto?? If so, look at the angle of it BTW, I want a Perana Capri
RSACapri Posted October 29, 2007 Author Report Posted October 29, 2007 good pics there m8,weather looks crap tho Yeh, weather went from misty, cloudy & rainy, to clowdy, to so friggin hot the Escorts decidd to hide in the shade!! It almost looks like the UK in the pictures till you spot the razor wire OMG.... don't even get me started on that crap!! Short of it is that the show was held @ the Piston Ring Clubs grounds in Modderfontein, which is where they manufacture dynamite and other exciting stuff... Now, for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, they are building this rediculously expensive "Gautrain" thing right close by to this.... So they put up razor wire to prevent squatters from going in there and putting up shacks.... looks awefull, but serves the purpose !! Nice pic's there mate I hope you still have your Capri??? Oh and that Escort Perana, is that a Pinto?? If so, look at the angle of it BTW, I want a Perana Capri I know buddy, everybody wants one!! Yes, the Capri is my dayly drive... Wouldn't trade it for anything!! I get 95Killerwats and 149Nm on the rears with it. That is about 131Bhp @ around 1753m (5751ft) above sea level (highveld)..... so, we are talking + - 158Bhp@ sea level!! Scared some Golf 5 Gti owners with it already!! I will have to find out about that Escort Perana for you... Aha.... here you go: "Escort Perana The first Escort Perana was based on the Mk1 Escort. It was powered by a 2 litre inline 4 (Pinto) engine." Will try to get a better angle picture for you....
marky4 Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 great pics and some real nice motors there
RSACapri Posted October 30, 2007 Author Report Posted October 30, 2007 Will try to get a better angle picture for you.... Jip, it is sitting @ quite and angle hey!!!

Cant help but notice nearly every mk2 in your piccies that has a mexico type front spoiler, has it painted black!?!!! Is there a reason for this or is it just a fashion???

stephens_xpack Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 The purple mk1 escort cossie, what are those wires attached to the quarter bumpers? Love the mk1 Perana - like you said rare as rocking pony poo.
RSACapri Posted November 6, 2007 Author Report Posted November 6, 2007 Cant help but notice nearly every mk2 in your piccies that has a mexico type front spoiler, has it painted black!?!!! Is there a reason for this or is it just a fashion??? I never noticed that!?!? Maybe that is how they came from the factory.... or something.... must be that most of them came out like that originally.... don't actaully know why.... The purple mk1 escort cossie, what are those wires attached to the quarter bumpers?Love the mk1 Perana - like you said rare as rocking pony poo. Oh, those are there to secure the bumpers to the car so that nobody can steal them.... Joburg is the crime capital of the world you know!! LOL !! No, I am just pulling your chain!! They are the bonnet pins, to keep it closed. They are attached to small cables so they don't go missing when the bonnet is open, and they are not in place.... how weard is it that they hang on precicely the same place on each bumper!! Oh, and it is actually a navy blue... don't know why it looks purple?!?!
