Guest MK1gaz Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 He ran a 13.1 with the 2.2 pinto on worn 185 A032's Excellent stuff , he's on the street legal N.A. 4 pot list then provided all the M.O.T. bits were on it at the time (exhaust , wipers , brakes etc etc). Very much looking forward to seeing/hearing your new atmo cossie engine in the mk1 mate , it will be the tits

Very much looking forward to seeing/hearing your new atmo cossie engine in the mk1 mate , it will be the tits I doubt it was, very unlikely to have been running an exhaust, if I remember rightly I think Mark said he'd taken the altenator off aswell? Was running fibreglass bonnet at the time and a lack of interior. Should get it back on the road later this week so will see if it feels much quicker. I'll give you a call later in the week gaz
w p e Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 slightly of this top subject what achevments have any of you/us done in your OSF at any particular time or event?
Guest MK1gaz Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 I doubt it was, very unlikely to have been running an exhaust, if I remember rightly I think Mark said he'd taken the altenator off aswell? Ok mate thanks Dave College , Dean Watt in "Tango" and Darran Moss are still the top 3 then with 13.0 , 13.1 and 13.2 sec . Pretty certain that nobody can touch these then unless the race car boys fit all the m.o.t. bits back on their cars and have a go at them but that won't happen . I should imagine that Andy Harris , Jayson Elvy and Bob Wiggins etc would piss a 12 second pass on street rubber with all the m.o.t. bits back on their cars though .
Guest MK1gaz Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 A lot of you will remember "big john" and his famous yellow mexico. He ran i beleive 13.1 with a 2.2 pinto. And drove it to the pod no trailor/a frame. Chatting to him on the M1 ,on the way to USC late 90s. Heavy traffic,he had 50s,paddle clutch and a dog box, Very funny seeing him go sideways inbetween the traffic Anyone got any pics when john had the mex? Isn't that the car with the front wheel drive Rs2000 engine fitted in it ?

Yep thats the car mate, was Jez thorntons car once upon a time Was up for sale again recently as a shot blasted shell with nothing on it, all come in a box of bits. Think it was going for £2000 thats with the atlas and quaife shafts, suspension etc. Worth it for that money really.
dommo1 Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 These 3 are the fastest PROPER COMFY N.A. 4 cylinder oldskoolfords at the Pod without gas and in a road legal state at the time i think . Ron Harris Jnr mk1 escort Harris X-FLOW GAZ in 13.6 secs (or thereabouts as was a few years ago and can't remember exactly ) , Tony Simpsom mk1 escort Harris pinto in 13.8 secs and Richard Harrison Anglia 105E Harris I thought Ron Harris Jnr ran around 13.8 on slicks with his cross flow. Jon Harris may have run 13.7 on his CF but that was definately on slicks. When I ran my 13.35 on slicks (2005) the twins were there and I'm fairly sure they said that was quicker than Ronny or Jon had ever gone even on slicks. Quick cars even on slicks Just got some info that jon harris 13.8 running slicks but Ron Harris jnr run an best of 13.73 @ 97mph on road tyres yokohama just watched the video. The gearbox he was using didnt work with slicks it bogged on the line so there you have it

Guest MK1gaz Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 Is the fastest "comfy" spec 1/4 mile with no bits missing oldskoolford with a 4 cylinder N.A. (no gas) engine then with a 13.7 sec ?
Guest MK1gaz Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 This is Jez Thorntons old car with the H.T. pinto . This looks like Darran moss' car now
Guest MK1gaz Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 what about this car , it looks the same as well
kev16v Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 it is the same car it belonged to my m8 big john rip he die just over two yrs ago

Been trawling my time slips for you Gaz , with my street legal N.A. 4 pot (pre-crossflow), M.O.T. bits on it at the time, exhaust , wipers , brakes, heater, carpet, (no rear seats but a roll cage is probably heavier), windows, winder mech, alternator etc etc I ran...... 13.79 on Yoko 032 ss @ 100.2 mph (end of 2004) on a long 1st dog box. And 13.65 on Yoko 048 @ 96.96 mph (03/09/06) on a shorter 1st deffinately with the exhaust on in both cases. So in about 18 months of dedication to the cause I had gone 0.14 of a second quicker!! It is definately faster now

Toby Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 slightly of this top subject what achevments have any of you/us done in your OSF at any particular time or event? I won 1401-1800cc FWD at Fast Cars USC in 1995 I think no one else turned up!! I had gone home and a mate who I'd been with turned up at my house with my trophey the next day!! How I won with a cough15.55 I'll never know. It was a Yellow "bruised banana" Mk1 escort, with the brown Finigans no1 rust beater primer on various dents from a fews "offs" It was 1660 with 1300 pistons, a 234, home ported head to Fast Car's spec (vizard). I broke 7 out of 8 piston rings by not having it rolling roaded (quite an achievement Wayne ). I guess it running lean meant the ends of the rings had touched. Woops. Live and learn!! When ever it used to snow, even just a flake, friends would come out and we'd take it in turns to cane the poor thing The whole front pannel was Fingans brown from it "going" into a ditch Happy days!!
w p e Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 i remember that event. happy days this 1/4 mile thing is like carp fishing either looking for that elusive big fish or that odd 10th or two up the strip
kevmk2 Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 it is the same car it belonged to my m8 big john rip he die just over two yrs ago Its such a shame, he was a top bloke
