Yet again a 13.6 and that's 15 years ago !!!!!!!!! Get on your knees people !!!!!!!!! Paul Barber was one of the early 16v novas to hit the streets. It only had 45's fitted and is a tribute to the XE. Few Novas go that fast these days, and TBH his didn't ever go any faster despite fitting big cams in the quest for "peek" power. Watch and learn hey! That's a FWD 16V 2.0 on streets, shows how well Fiestasteves doing!! Oh and how well Dave Edmunds awesome Fez went in its day! Cheers TomB Head not too big to talk to us despite your new found fame! And Eckie!! Much better looking
Darran Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Good pics Gaz. remember wayne and the others well at usc. I raced up there in the same class in 1997....can you find the following year. Most of the top 12 4 pots were from the south and in old fords.

Guest MK1gaz Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 This is an oldskool dyno day back in the day . Russell clarks rs2000 x-pack packing a full monty 2.4 litre H.T. Racing pinto . Even half of south london couldn't stop the fooooooker from wheelspinng on the dyno where it recorded 187 bhp at the wheels !!!!!!!! . Notice Puddy standing on the passenger side sill looking a bit scared !!!!!!!
Toby Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 I have that mag too!! Are you in my loft?? How about that exhaust too!!
Toby Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 There weren't many Pinto's really putting it out at that shoot out either were there - except the HT 2.4 and TBFair that was 2.4, - still awesome power though!!
Guest MK1gaz Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Heres Russell Clarks 2.4 pinto in action in another oldskool fast car mag feature . It's performance data is in the 3rd column on the right (car 666) and this was tested at Brunters
Fiesta Steve Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Here's Dave Edmonds H.T. Racing 1824cc mk1 XR2 from a mag article in 1996 (12 years ago already !!!!!!!!! ) . Watch and learn hey! That's a FWD 16V 2.0 on streets, shows how well Fiestasteves doing!! Oh and how well Dave Edmunds awesome Fez went in its day! Wow, 13.7 on streets !!! I'm doing better than I though Bring on the slicks As for Paul Barber not going any quicker with more "peek" power its no surprise that I'm going quite quick with just a 244 and 45's. Big isn't always best Dave Edmunds car was awsome, I don't think I'll ever beat his 13.09 but I hope to get close After 40 pages I think this thread has proved something. The cars quick cars were only running 13's back in the day although most seemed to be on street tyres. When the quicker cars now run on street tyres they too are in the 13's. So were not going any quicker after all this time. Engine tuning hasn't changed, nor have the 1/4 mile times.
Guest MK1gaz Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Yes that's correct steve , different year + the same performance . A street legal N.A. 4 cylinder car on street tyres without nitrous that can get under 13.9 secs is quite rare even today . An engines an engine at the end of the day and no matter what new fangled fancy ones come out these days it don't alter the fact that getting a car moving forward fast is no easier than it was 15 years ago !!!!!!!
