I've owned a mk3 Capri and I seriously doubt I'd buy another.

But, that said, there is somethin about the under dog

that is the Mk2 8)

I've always preferred the mk2 because of this (must be

my awkward nature and the way i subconsciously do the opposite

to everyone else!! :evil)

i have owned many of each  i my self prefer a mk2 to the mk3 has their is to many mk3's about and you dont see many mk2's,you could ask yourself this y do people rush out to save a mk3 laser nad speand load's of dosh on them,i dont get it,you would be better of to buy a mk2 ghir or s model and be differant,

that has opened a can of worm's i think :lol:

most people i speak to go for the mk1 or mk3, they think the mk2 is ugly when i bought mine they turned there nose up and asked why yet they love my mk3. i bought it because there wernt many about but there seems to be more and more popping out of the darkness.

maybe there will be a mk2 revolution

the trouble with mk3's are their is so many still on the road, i called on one the other day and the the bloke wanted £700 for it a old laser with no test and very rough around the edge's,i like something differant from the norm,i my self wish i had kept my 62 classic has it was so cool and only have ever owned one of them,

the Mk2 was a result of Ford USA interfering with Ford Europe's revamp of the Mk1 Capri model in the vain belief that they could get an extra model for the US market. Ford USA wanted the Capri to be more of a utility car while Ford Europe wanted a sports car. As Ford USA held the purse strings guess who won? The trouble is it ended up as neither, sales flopped and Ford USA walked away leaving Ford Europe to quickly beef up the appearance and suspension and re-released it as the Mk2 Facelift or MK3 as we now call it. In fact the press used the Mk3 name first and as Ford Europe were embarasssed with the Mk2 the Mk3 tag stuck.

The reason you don't seem many is that they only made them for 2-3 years and, yes, they rust like hell. I have a Mk1 and a Mk3 , never wanted a MK2 - just doesn't look right to me.

Nice shot of the JPS Simon

Looks good with that slightly lowered stance. Makes me think I should keep the original wheels on mine instead of going for sevens.

Each to there own, but the mk2 3.0S is my favourite followed by the RS3100 and then the Mk 3.0S.

Hi Danny as you say each to their own. Yeah it looked good on the original 5 1/2" 's.

Here's a compromise a Mk3 with Mk2 lights

Me going into the Karussell at the ring.

ooh yeah that looks sexy... that could be the twin light conversion ive been lookin for!

as for the mk2, i aint got anything against em... infact, i prefer the bumpers off a mk2, so got the chromies for my mk3... and i quite fancy some mk2 rear lights to complete the old skool look.... but those head lights and indicators just look gash (unless the car is black with gold stripes!)

but fook it, each to their own man... a nice mk2 is a nice mk2 and a shitty mk3 is a shitty mk3 doesn't matter which number comes after the 'mk'!

what do people think to mk2's with 'mk2 facelift' (tee hee) head lights?

So what is it about the mk3 you prefer?

You want the mk2 bumpers?

you want the mk2 rear lights?

You don`t want the mk3 twin headlamps?

You probably want a mk2 grill?

I think you want a mk2 :wink::lol:

Just to be utterley ZZzzzzz!, technically there wasn't a 'Mk3'. Ford produced the 'Series 1' (Mk1), and then the 'Series 2' (Mk2). The shell of the 'Series 2' went on to be the basis of what we all know as the Mk3, basically a Mk2 with plastic bits added, and a slight redesign of the headlamp/bonnet leading edge area.

I think the Mk2's can look a bit bland, but as I learnt to drive in one, I don't mind them. Think they were only built between '74 and '78. :)

well now, don't get me wrong I like concourse cappa's n shit but for my car i want something more personal, you know? so in ascending order....

I like the old school chrome, the wrap around bumpers on a mk3 look gash... especially since I'm on my way to removing those shity rubbing srtips off the side of my laser and that would look well shite with mk3 bumpers!

Now i think bout it, my tinted mk3 lights look better on my black car

I like the twin headlights, just want something different, something more 'american muscle' dare i say it! and mk2 lights look good on a mk3 but not so on the mk2

and i do like mk2 grills but everyone and his dog does it so i've got a custom grill....

and i think its just the front valance on the mk2's i don't like... or maybe the lights look to clumsy on the mk2 front?

few, rant over....

Personally I think all the Capri's look better once made fatter - to long and skinny otherwise, that's just my personal preference. And once it has been made fatter I think they all look cool, especially with the right fat, dished wheels 8)

Well the Mk2 is the one I prefer as it is the car I grew up with and the one that I own. Its suits me that they are a bit rarer as I like the idea of having something a bit diff.

The mk2 was from an age that was for a long time associated with being tacky, the mk1 was associated with the 60's which was ok and the mk3 the 80's.

The world would be boring if we all liked the same thing - so the fact that poeple dont like Mk2's is a good thing its just that they are wrong!
