mk1super Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 Seen a right sight at weekend, was at the local RS show spotted an imaculate big wing mk1 in Modena green was lovely, the fella opened the bonnet to show a nissan lump, and people walked off in disgust! And some of the comments were rather rude too lol Best part was none of these guys were concourse brigade just spectators Discuss

Admin Vista Posted May 6, 2008 Admin Report Posted May 6, 2008 I've heard people doing it too, in my opinion if you've nothing constructive to say then get lost and keep your opinions to yourself.
radar tech Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 I've heard people doing it too, in my opinion if you've nothing constructive to say then get lost and keep your opinions to yourself.as above ...not everyone wants / can afford a concourse rebuild. If we all had concourse cars i think it would be boring.your car shows personality .....like mine it aint mint but i love it to bits and best of all ITS MINE .
FredTransit Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 You know what they say, if you can't say something nice, say nothing....
d2000ad Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 You always get tossers like that, Keep their cars in a climate controlled garage and trailer em everywhere. But afraid to drive em in case they get a scratch. Like being with a supermodel and afraid to throw your leg over.........
LADY WIT Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 Who cares what other people think, its your car at the end of the day you do whatever you want to do with it. If everyone had the same I would be bored shitless
Admin Mk2Jo Posted May 6, 2008 Admin Report Posted May 6, 2008 Unfortunately that will always happen and we just have to learn to ignore it ... but I agree, it is hard sometimes and they could at least have the decency to keep their comments to themselves or voice them when they are out of earshot
Twinkle Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 i used to get this with my twin cam, people used to look at the chassis number then tut and walk off in disgust muttering it wasn't even trying to be a replica it was just a mk1 with a lotus lump in it
Von Loxlee Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 i get it in my car all the time from (no offence) the slightly older generation, the younger lot may think its mad or whatever but they still say they like it. still ive heard it all so much it just makes me laugh now after all if it annoys some narrow minded people then its even better also makes it twice as nice when someone does compliment it
antz Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 if i saw a mk1 with a nissan lump in it i think id congratulate teh guy...beign different and nissan engines are a damn good engines. there may be bits on peoples cars i dont like but i wouldnt say its ruined. what is a ruined car is one thats been sat under the trees for 30years and never ever got to live on...thats a ruined car. a car thats not ruined is one thats out there showing people how its done. be it a cortina with a pinto, escort with a nissan engine or even a concourse escort getting polished to f**k. people who walk off in disgust need a kick up the arse!
MightySprocket Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 people who try something different shouldn't be criticised imo, where would we be without innovators
sambo Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 Fancy putting a nissan engine in an old skool ford! Whats wrong with these people!??? Bet it goes like stink and would wipe that stupid frown off their faces if taken for a fooking spin!!
Cookie Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 Cheeky fookin knobs! Some people really need to worry about more serious things in life than whether that nut is the original grade steel....
pauln Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 I would applaud anyone doing something a bit different from the norm. Good luck to the bloke and his skills.
mk1super Posted May 6, 2008 Author Report Posted May 6, 2008 I spoke to him and he and his son did the work themselves and he was such a decent bloke spent ages explaining to me how he did it, i thought it looked great i sincerely hope some of the mags feature it as its wicked i'll post up pics
escortmad79 Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 I hate purist gits like that! End of the day, it's HIS car & can do with it whatever he wants!
pauln Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 said car is lovely....in my eyes Mine too. Just right for general blasting around in . Theres not enough use of the free injection systems that come with modern engines.
Admin Vista Posted May 6, 2008 Admin Report Posted May 6, 2008 Fook that's a tight fit! looks good to me though
mk1super Posted May 6, 2008 Author Report Posted May 6, 2008 Also has nissan 200 suspension front and rear i beleve
Duke3s Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 This is so annoying...... i actually got the cold shoulder at a meet a while back because i drive a Capri and not a MK1 Escort or Cortina.... some people need an additude adjustment - that escort is mint!
accord83 Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 Just look the complainers in the eye, give them a big split melon grin and say "It's mine, I like it, I haven't seen your Doris, but I wouldn't tell you she looked like a pig with lipstick, now F*** off and find someone who cares what you think" I think it's a brilliant looking car and well spannered. Much respect. John.
