Guest Guest Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 for people that liked his views and posts,i am one of these people.we dont go pmin mods and admin say how fookin great people are we got on with it as it is the friggin web.ive never seen a post on any site where he has used swearing in his posts,have any of you?ive seen it from other members etc tho.you dont like you get rid i honestly think it is that simple.as said it is a shame for the site imo.other sites went off the boil as well after this type of shit.end ofcant argue wiv you there piggy mate

I tended not to bite on his 'obviously written to provoke' threads, but I knew people could and would take offence. Regardless if you liked that kind of banter or not, it ruffled a few feathers and the Admin Team have acted accordingly....... its not as if its the first time for the fella, he was warned. I for one certainly wouldnt have the balls to upset anyone of 9000+ members and then turn up at Boxhill, Pod, Ace.

FredTransit Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 I didn't really know gaz, and only saw a bit of the NOS thread and it didn't offend me (come to think of it it didn't apply to me). I run a custom van site, and am a member of a few other forums, so have now experienced this for myself. All I can say is that I bet this is far deeper than most members have seen, there would have been a lot more said that did not appear on the forum. Whilst people are entitled to their private views, it's a shame that more people don't (calmly) voice them publicly and all of this might make more sense. On the other hand, it's also very easy for Admins to go too far with censorship, exactly this caused a big split on my forum. I am not saying this will happen here as all in all this forum is a lot more easy going than most IMHO, but I think we should all step back and chill!

You wouldn't go to a group of your friends and say some of the things gaz said without getting into a fair few arguments and probably a couple of fights, why would the same things be alright to voice on an online forum. I personally did have a problem with gaz, not as a person because I have never met him in real life and may well have gotton on with him if we'd met, but a lot of the things he said on here were bang out of order and only said to wind people up. Are comments needed to just wind people up? Is that constructive? I doubt it. Remember people, this is not about the one thread or instance, he's been temporarily banned before and I'm sure has had enough warnings about his behaviour. This is also not the only forum that he has been banned from so it's obviously not the admin on osf who have the problem and it wasn't contained to this forum. I for one will look forward to this forum going back to what it was like when I joined, friendly and welcoming, without the need to defend yourself in your choise of nos/turbo/slicks in every post that is made. I'd also like to thank the admin for making the hard and sometimes unpopular decions that need to be made.

I respect admins desicions but here's my pennys' worth Gaz was alright werent he? he was never aggressive, never (what i would call) "abusive" he just had strong opinions and when he did voice those opinions on here he would always back it up with a cheeky little wink or smiley. He was never aggressive and put anyone down. He has helped me in the past and i am sure he has helped others too. I think he was a benefit to the site, albeit with his "quirks" and narrow mindedness. The bloke is "oldskool" through and through and loves his 13's, pintos and growling carbs, it seems more so than any of us!! Ah well, it is a shame to see him gone, but admin have gotta do what they feel is right.

Now i only know Gaz from on here,And i know some of his points of views and his way of putting them across sometimes upset or infuriated some people. . . Well if you argue you get a reponse, if you dont like what someone is saying/ writting ignore it. the person will soon get board. I believe Gaz puts across some excellent points of view.......And also has helped me no end..I have also sold parts to him and bought parts from him. Now i believe that at times he can be very argumentative and he is set in his ways, But why do people take things he writes so seriously But i have been on this site since the begining and banning someone for there point of view just seems so childish.... I believe as someone else has said, The manner of someones driving at of our meets and or in an inappropriate manner with kids about and increasing the possiblity of losing the places where we like to meet up, is more to the detriment of the website that 1 persons keyboard antics. I fully respect all the admin staff and know they have a job to do. But me personally believe that the wrong decision has been made and if we are starting to ban people we need to get the priorties right and maybe a warning system under the username so everyone can see who been a naughty boy. I don't recall him saying your wheels were shite, your engines are shite, you are cheats, etc. It seems that what we have here is a deliberate attempt to undermine the desicions made by the people who run this site for EVERY member. Maybe we should just hand over the site to the members and see how long it lasts. Now if that comes across as a bit narky, then maybe it is. We put OUR spare time (what little there is) into keeping this site/community running. Darren started this site for LIKE MINDED people to share their passion for OSFs. Putting peoples ideas down and belittling their choices has always been, and will continue to be unacceptable on Old Skool Ford.
bortaf Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 De ja vu it's turbosport all over again, it's Darrens site he's in chanrge and it aint like gaz doesn't do it on ni-on every site he goes on anoying yes, funny yes, brings it on himself deffinatly I will miss him but his 1 and only opinion did grate after a while and lets face it 2 of the biggest sites out there can't BOTH be wronge Wouldn't want Darrens job for the world, half want him gone half want to winge when he is, how can ya win, keep up the good work mate In summing up A shame but his own fault, same as last time and probaly the next time as well, i'm sure he was just having a laugh but if you don't learn from your mistakes (turbosport) you are bound to repeat them i rest my face your honor

oliwally Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 I wouldnt want admins job but it does seem that the minority who whinge and make the most noise get what they want. why does everybody get upset by what he says when they ask for everyones opinion about their cars?? they get pissy when people say its crap and not what they would do,would they rather us lie and say that the halfords body kit,bright pink paint,alloy spoilers,neons and the 17" spinners on their 105e looked cool?. everyones entitled to their own opinions at the end of they day. some love marmite others hate the stuff,but should they get banned for saying so?? I always thought his posts were funny and aimed at winding people up. he gave as good as he got too,many,many people posted stuff just to wind him up,but did he complain to admin? Oh well the forums a little bit boring now
