atomic punk Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 Been on the Escort for over 4 years but then I was using it as well as repairing it for most of that time And its cost me peanuts cos I refuse to pay cranked up prices
Doc Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 My car has been a moneypit !! Probably £4k so far and i reckon it will cost another £2.5k to get it painted and finished ... 4 years so far But we know that wont be the end .... Wanna link it , coilovers , stroke the engine and find a way to supercharge the essex or find a 300zx twin turbo engine to swap in there It will never end !
60ftman Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 About 4 years so far and about £8k. Works out less than £40 a week. Far better value than a couple of nights down the pub. Money well spent
Posse Posted December 11, 2006 Author Report Posted December 11, 2006 deffo m8 i need to start cutting down on things me thinks
Admin Vista Posted December 11, 2006 Admin Report Posted December 11, 2006 5 years and around £10k on my old capri GXL. it was delayed by maybe a year or so by a bodyshop that kept promising to get onto it and never did. Then went bust and I had a battle with the receivers to get it back.

ExotronGammaPlusSequencer Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 The 100e was built in 5 months & owes me a little over 2k,was difficult getting motivated to work on it outside in the cold winter months but the comments it got during the build & at shows etc made it all worthwhile..........it still makes me grin like the first day i took it round the block
russ105e Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 Taken 3 1/2 years and about 6k ish.Off the road again at the moment for more mods and put a few things right.Work mates think i'm mad but i love the car and the scene.I know people that put the same amount of money up there nose, but i've got something i'm proud off
Jelly Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 I know people that put the same amount of money up there nose That's a bloody good point, that mate.
100ejohn Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Ive had the car for about a year, not spent no money yet or atleast hard money, the back end is nearly back to bare metal but then stopped due to my family car engine was not what i wanted so had to dig that out and rebuild that, decided to get a new engine for it and so it left me with a spare engine, so i thought a 100e would be nice with a cossie lump in it with a garrett bolted to the side
105Nick Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 My brother's spent over ten years on his Cobra, I daren't ask how much I had the Escort four years, spent the first two on it as best I could, but had a succession of bad luck - ie it fell to bits on me, parents wanted a new porch built, some walls moved in the house and the driveway block paved before I could bring it home, plus building two stables as some sh!te burn it down as soon as we had finished the first, plus a few break ins in the shed including someone nicking our generator and tools, so I decided to give it a rest for a while. Anglia I bought February, but it's been off the road six months due to a top end rebuild when the head gasket went, followed by a complete strip down when the piston rings and bearings followed! Running in circles but it's geting there now.
BaileyMex Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 About three years to current spec, but are they ever finished?? Mine has all been done in stages on a budget, but I dont care coz I love it
Gareth Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 have you spent on your projects?why so long money time etc? Nearly 2 years of solid weldin, metal fab, prep work dude so far, it's upto about £4,500, that includes £1900 I spent on an MOT'd heap The Capri took 6 weeks ish an £500 That includes £150 purchase price

Mark2Mark Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Just coming to the end of the 3rd year on the mk2 many reasons 1. Money (or lack of) 2. I keep the car at work so it is getting difficult to work on it 3. For some reason i bought an anglia while the escort was off the road now that is taking up all my spare time/cash! And no i don't even want to know how much it's costing because i may cry, but one day, one fine day she will live again as a fire breathing, forest arched, caged beast!!!
