Generally very reliable.

I caned my uprated 2 litre Pinto all the way to Ford Fair and back last year and was just bragging to my G/F about how reliable OSF's are; when as we approached home 2 things happened simultaneously, I went over a speed hump a tad too fast and: -

1) One of the seat back securing bolts dropped out on her seat

2) The lead dropped off the coil

Fortunately she was so busy floundering around on the back floor with her legs in the air that she didn't notice that the engine had cut out and we'd coasted into the drive  I was therefore able to stand by my non - breakdown claim as I dismissed her seat failure and subsequent embarrasing skirt around the waist moment as a minor failure of a non essential component :lol:

I've done over well over 100,000 miles in my mk2 'Tina.

It has broken down a few times but I've never been towed home in it. Always limped home or fixed it at side of the road.

It's a 1600 crossflow by the way.

Apart from engine mount shearing the bolts out the block, n a hole in the radiator my 1600 x-flow is very reliable! sometimes takes a few turns of the key to start but far more reliable than my mk1 golf!

um had abit of trouble with mine. about 7 month ago rebuilt it because the piston rings had gone. the had a little bit of trouble with my condesor then a vavle spring snapped and now i've lost compression again in 1 cylinder so im just slapping another set of rings in it at the moment Just to get me about untill i got enough money to put a 1600 in it with a 5 speed box. But when its running starts every time and i use it everyday.

1300 crossflow

I think i need to easy up on the gas just a tad!:lol:

2.8i colgne v6, very reliable i use it everyday for work had one failure of a bodged fuel line that the previous owner did but thats it, it does take about 5 secs to get started whilst cranking but for a 20yr old car i'm not complaining :D

oh yeah i did have a (ahem, cough) broken throttle cable once but i dont think anyone noticed  sshhhhh!!

When she was roadworthy  well I kinda drove her like i stole her The RS that is not the Granny -

Span the wheels up from cold every morning if she started under her own steam - If not then a swift push would be needed - The blokes at work were what I called my starter motor lol - well for £60 when you aint got it what else will you do ?

Was reliable until I did 1500 miles in one week visisting family around Great britain - LOL - what a mistake

In that short time - The Carb unscrewed itself threfore ran like a bag of poo - An alternator Bolt decided to Vanish on the way o my sisters house - luckily she had a Capri on her lawn which I managed to scrump a few bits from and I was on my merry way.

After that wee journey was over I was coming back from work one night and got stuck in Traffic and over heated - Then some main oil seal went and it couldnt have happenend at a worser time lol -

The Joys of owning an OSF eh ?
