antz Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 I emailed him this. Not had a reply yet Hi. I hope you realise you're trying to sell a very well known car. A link to the auction has been circulated around a lot of popular car websites, and people will continue to bid silly amounts of money until you stop listing it. The *real* owner of the car is aware you're doing it, and has even placed a bid. Oh, and you've been reported to ebay too. Good luck with your sale. nice one mike!
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 How about listing an identical auction but saying 'the other seller of this car is a scammer'?
Admin Vista Posted February 20, 2007 Admin Report Posted February 20, 2007 Here's a response given to Mexicomark on the AVO site The 1972 FORD ESCORT RS 1600 YELLOW is in perfect working condition. It's in showroom condition, no scratches, no dents, accident-free,no outstanding finance, full service history, HPI clear. The problem is that in the meanwhile I had to move with my family in Rotterdam,Netherlands where I got a new job as a construction engineer. I brought the car here with me with the intention of driving it but when I found out about the very high import duties and all the restrictions regarding registration and emissions tests here I have made up my mind and decided to sell the vehicle. It still has UK registration, cos I didn't paid for Netherlands import. The car meets United Kindom DOT and EPA guidelines so there will be no problems regarding UK Customs policy on receiving the car. Usually shipment takes maximum 5 to 7 days depending on your location and will be fully insured against damages, shipped in a crated container.....on my cost!! If, by any reason, you will not be satisfied with it ( even though I can assure you that it is exactly as described), you can return it at my expense for a full refund of your money, no questions asked. I think this is more than fair for the both of us. Final price is £4,000.00 (this price includes the shipping and insurance). Let me know if you realy are interested. Best Regard Jerome Kornfeld

MK5 Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 just had this e-mail The sale will be managed by eBay for our own protection as they act as a neutral third party. Look how this works: 1. I will contact eBay and give all the info about this deal. 2. They will email us the forms which are needed for our deal. 3. You’ll send the money to eBay and they will notify me to ship the car to your location. 4. After you will inspect the car and decide to keep it, eBay will forward me the funds. Remember you have 7 days to test it. If by any reason the car is not as described or if you find any problems with it I will pay for the returning fees. I'm sure it won't be the case because it's a state of art looking and working vehicle. I apologize if it seems like I'm pushing on this deal but I really want to be sure everything is clarified before any further steps. I will initiate the transaction through ebay and in the next 12 hours they will contact you with transaction details, invoice, payment instructions, and buyer’s protection policy. Just wait for eBay instructions. Please go thru them exactly!!! In case you did not receive their message please let me know

You get directed to a fake site which looks like ebay, it takes your card details and claims to be a third party acting independently. Have a read of this, how to scam the scammer : http://www.zug.com/pranks/powerbook/ How about listing an identical auction but saying 'the other seller of this car is a scammer'? theres a lot of people that dont go on the forums so good idea tho bet ur add gets pulled and his dosent Worth a try though.
Jay_harrier Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 Same for me - my response: Jerome, Thanks for the e-mail, there seems to be some strange activity on ebay, I would still very much like to view the car before proceeding, Is the car in the UK? I am a collector of classic Fords & this is a very rare opportunity. I am very keen to secure this vehicle, please provide me full details of your address, contact details & an account where I can place a deposit. I do need proof of ownership - a scan of the V5/registration document should suffice. I have run a HPi/DVLA check against the vehicle - please confirm the previous owners name. Please call me on 07900 ******* to initiate the deposit transfer, Kind regards, Justin W****** ---------------------------------------------------------------- jerome kornfeld wrote: The 1972 FORD ESCORT RS 1600 YELLOW is in perfect working condition. It's in showroom condition, no scratches, no dents, accident-free,no outstanding finance, full service history, HPI clear. The problem is that in the meanwhile I had to move with my family in Rotterdam,Netherlands where I got a new job as a construction engineer. MK5 Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 ebay e-mail is from ukrswebhelp@ebay.co.uk from e-mail header "X-Sender: ukrswebhelp@ukreply-ebay.com User-Agent: Web-Based Email 4.9.17 X-Originating-IP: 172.183.221.236" IP is an AOL one....
Jay_harrier Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 And another one, I've cut his part, bet he thinks he's hooked a beauty! Hi Jerome, I have used Escow clearing houses myself and have an agent in Holland who deals with my European business, Before I am prepared to proceed you have to provide me with some proof of authenticity of the vehicle which you have failed to do so far, I have to ask myself why is this? Do you realise the true value of this vehicle? You must understand that a vehicle of this heritage having full history & being completed untouched is quite a find. I am prepared to fly out tomorrow afternoon with the full asking price but you must provide a document of some description before I do this. My agent in Rotterdam is also very helpful & could arrange to verify the paperwork if you would prefer - they have full authority to act on my behalf. Contact Details Fortis Escrow Coolsingel 93 3012 AD Rotterdam Phone: +31 10 401 58 56 Fax: +31 10 401 62 25 Regards Justin

Hmmm, interesting, spoofed e-mail, pretty much all of ebay is on the 66.x.x.x IP range. If I thought it'd do any good I'd fill his mailbox but he'll just open another one for the next scam.

Best Regard Jerome Kornfeld THATS THE EMAIL I GOT E-mail him and say that you'll be in the Netherlands over the next couple of weeks and would like to view the car with the intention of paying cash and driving away. Somehow I bet he doesn't reply! There used to be a guy on ebay preporting to be in Italy (though advertising parts 'located in London') who was 'selling' performance parts. I asked if I could come to Italy and view, as did quite a few others. He disappeared very quickly.
RedditchJay Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 YESTERDAY THAT WAS AT £22000 then it vanished off ebay
Johnson Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 wessie, he sent me the same reply Ive sent him this..... I am still very interested in the escort, and if its as mint as you say it is, I will definitely take it at that price. Providing it isn’t already sold I want first refusal. How did you want payment to be made and would it be possible to make a deposit to secure the car? If there is a number I could contact you on and arrange the delivery etc.
