BaileyMex Posted March 13, 2022 Report Posted March 13, 2022 Welcome to OSF Car looks great, do you have any plans for it?
Calmac78 Posted March 13, 2022 Author Report Posted March 13, 2022 Had a wee bit of work done, used to have sunroof but whoever took it out didn't put any strengthening underneath so roof had sunk, got it filled in and guy did really good job of getting it sorted, interior was shocking south African seats but had been horribly covered, so managed to get a decent set of ghia seats for front. Until I get them coloured went really old skool and wife got me furry black seat covers ๐. Just need a wee bit of fine tuning engine and carbs wise and tidy up under bonnet. Other than that possibly a set of 13s, loads saying 15s look to big but I kinda like themย
Johnny Boy Posted March 13, 2022 Report Posted March 13, 2022 I like the colour. My SA 1600 sport is Light blue. Welcome to the world of SA escorts , and dodgy repairsย ๐ Personally I prefer the 13 inch wheels over the 15's

Shame the seats lost their battle with time though, the Matching Chocolate seats with red or tan stripe do look pretty good when new. If it still has both of its vin plates I would love to confirm the paint and trim codes with you for my data base?
Calmac78 Posted March 13, 2022 Author Report Posted March 13, 2022 Should have been midnight blue, on SA docs it just said red! Couple more things to do to it but next winter it will be to clean underside of thst horrible underseal they use and make sure everything's OKย *Note - (Just edited your post, hiding your Vin details, some unscrupulous people may take advantage, Appreciate you posting them though, RP2000) ย 1
Calmac78 Posted March 13, 2022 Author Report Posted March 13, 2022 Also looking for a bit of info on the gearbox in the SA cars, 3rd gear is really noisy but managed to get a hold of another 4 speed out of a British mk2. Should it fit straight on or is there anything I need to do to it or get for it?ย

Its strange they painted over the blue to the red colour it is now. If you were thinking of repainting it though it was not actually Midnight Blue. That wasn't a colour Ford South Africa used on their Sports. It is in fact Marine Blue and originally looked like this!ย .......... Still a long way from Red though ..... hmmmm?

Calmac78 Posted March 14, 2022 Author Report Posted March 14, 2022 Cheers for that! Fingers crossed I can change it over soon๐. I actually like that colour of blue, looked at quite a few escorts, to either resto or get one almost done. Was really wanting to do a silver harrier, but who knows what the future will bring!ย

Was really wanting to do a silver harrier, but who knows what the future will bring!ย Im not a huge fan of Mindnight Blue anyways. I think the South African Marine Blue is quite beautiful. If the car was that colour originally I wouldn't hesitate to go back to it. When UK dealers import and sell the cars in this colour they refer to it as Cologne Blue which is a European colour. So the colours are very close to each other.

No , very straight forward, it had been stolen and recovered in SA, and been assigned a SAPS AAP chassis number, which is a chassis number stamped into the strut top, issued by the South African Police Service. That was on the SA log book. So everything tallied up . Only thing is I can't tell what it's original Vin number was , as they XXX it out. The aluminium build and chassis plates on the front panel are missing ๐ 1
