Ebay Escort MK2 Mexico for sale, but is it genuine. !!??
Ray replied to caprimk1v4's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
well i know Gerbil all about mk2 escorts, not my thing, but the reg no. says enough to put me off lol -
on a mk1 1300E, ford used sound deadening under the bonnet, until they had several episodes of it falling off onto the exhaust manifold and catching fire, it took a year before they deleted it if you put too much or too thick a sound deadening on the floor in the main cabin, an original carpet wont fit properly as an aside, didnt the mk2 RS2, have a factory deadening mat on and shaped to the upper bulkhead, that should fit a std mk2 as well, i would have thought

Powderham Historic Vehicle Gathering 2023 8th 9th July
Ray replied to Mexican Gerbil's topic in SHOWS, EVENTS & MEETS
Bit of a damp start. should have stuck with avo national day lol -
all this plugging i need a wire attached ill give this a go on here as i know event posts dont always get read right, i know this is a tad close to the event this Sunday the 9th July, is the AVO national day, but this is a special yer you can go to any car show at any time on any year, but if your into old fords, especially Mk1 escorts, THIS show, THIS year is a must, forget thje rest, go to the best this year celebrates the 50th Birthday of the RS2000, 1300E and RS3100 Capri, and the AVO national day is going all out to celebrate this there will also be Mexico's, twin cams and RS1600's in the main field you will never see such a large gathering in your or the cars lifetime again, this is a one off opportunity not to dismiss, you can go to any other show at any other time, but this one will never be repeated in your lifetime on a side field youll find all sorts of non AVO models, theres also stalls with anything from auto jumble to Beer its also attached to Hatton country world, where you can dump the wife and kids for a few hours its also the cheapest day out, at £5 a car, 4 in a car thats only £1 a head for the best car show out there, thats cheaper than chips its held at Hatton Park in Warwickshire, CV35 8AX, this Sunday if Scott can make the NEC un announced all the way fron Cornwall a couple of years back, then this event is no excuse come on guys, you can even drive your classics there

i have now twice been on the end of the DVLA creating problems over a V5, and once where they just issued it, so to a large degree, with anything modified, altered or changed, you now have a potential problem, i know others that have also had problems, on the 2 that i have had involvement with, ive had to re assemble one car back to standard and show in excess of 40 pictures, inclusive of vin no stamping, vin and body plates inc their riveting, the other car was purchased part restored, and had to be completed prior to them issuing a v5, as there was no prior pictures, and they again wanted lots of pictures, again very particular over the vin plates and stampings, and in both cases the cars had to be to a large degree how they rolled off the line, and the latter had to have an MOT on the car prior to issuing the V5, it seems to be a little hit and miss who they pick on tbh, but the problem is there
-
Ive just posted a flyer with the discount code in the osf cult club house, for booking day tickets at the NEC in november
-
there you go, what did i say lol
-
re the missing ice scraper, there were 2 people making them, but the injection moulded ones didnt fit properly, so get hold of Neil Fletcher, hed on FB and an avo club member, he makes them, they were around the £50 each touch neil has a web site, just google neil fletcher racing re the metal clip thats missing, theres a member on here that makes them, im sure he will pipe up soon enough
-
if i go back in time to when i was a lad, i do vaguely remember my dad telling me that if a car could be rolled onto the road, the vehicle had to be road legal, yes even on a private driveway, unless all 4 wheels were removed, or you built a wall around it so it couldn't be taken out now, i just took it at the time, as another one of those things he said to stop me putting cars on his drive, as was my want lol, and never really thought any more of it, but his brother was a copper, so could have been something in it, having read the above
-
are you fitting that classic trim one or an original ford one the ford one has a removable ice scraper, is fixed to the floor using the rear 2 handbrake gator screws, then 2 screws mid way, hidden under the scraper, and one at the front, no spacers underneath, but under the scraper near the handbrake youll find 2 slots, thats for a metal strengthener strap to stop it pulling apart the classic trim one does not have a removable scraper, and only screws to the tunnel with 3 screws, never fitted one, so dont know what theyre like tbh
-
its not actually tax exempt, only MOT exempt, if registered as a historic vehicle, it still has to have road tax, its just the tax is free, but they no longer check insurance when you tax a vehicle, so you can tax it without insurance, but, its actually an offence to have a taxed and un insured vehicle
-
the first 5000 1300E,s termed series 1s were all 2 door, and the series 2 ran for 6 months in 2 door before the 4 door 1300E was available, no hard figures written down, but they say in s2 there were 4000 4 door and 2000 2 door, most 4 door went to the place in the sky, making them scarce now
-
so basically what your saying is, just because the car is historic, dosnt make it exempt, you still have to apply to make it exempt, hence why the tfl website says mine are not exempt coin it in while no one realises
