  1. easy to transfer the guts from one casing to another or make the bracket tbh, the bracket is the same as fitted to the round hella or mixo ones
  2. e bay item no. 255981590807
  3. the guy that runs this FB page seems to have access to information on some cars that dosnt come up elsewhere, worth an ask Find My Old Car UK 🇬🇧
  4. ill ask on the E club site if it belongs to anyone on there, but im not holding my breath
  5. come on Nick Heer, tell everyone about your howdens repairs and your BnQ 6 inch screws to hold speakers into a new carpet
  6. yes agreed, but the ad says hes been using it as his daily for the last 6 years, lucky to have gone that long imho
  7. as sad as it is, i still dont get, why in this day and age, people think they can use a classic as a daily and leave them on driveways without reprocussions like this i doubt a classic would get through one night on my driveway without disappearing the only ones i know of that stay there are so badly rotten even the scrap man wouldnt want them
  8. thats the best finish ive seen
  9. these are actually proper companies in business, not hobbyists, and this being their sole business, with a lot of very expensive looking equipment, perhaps i just have higher expectations than the process can produce, but so far everything from two different companies is what i class as total junk, ok if your wayne and waynetta slob who dont care, but if you want it like original, it just aint happening from what i can see, but they do seem to be very busy, so there must be something in it
  10. everything, and i mean everything ive had 3d printed to date has been absolute junk, ive just had seat belt caps done and thrown them back at them twice now, and its not just one 3d printers, it just seems to me to be something still in its infancy, but the problem arises that you cant get things like these caps now, and its a case of having to accept its poor quality
  11. the ethanol content in our shell v power, bp ultimate (which is still lower octane) and tesco momentum 99, can all carry anything from 0 to 5% in the uk, ive tested the shell and tesco and at time of testing both carried 2-3%, but from what ive read, it varies, as the regs allow the oil companies to vary it, its all about the amount of ethanol fuel theyre selling as to how much they put in, they have to meet a percentage to overall fuel sales, so if the high octane fuel is outselling the regular, they have to feed it into the higher octane, but if lower octane is outselling the higher then they dont, we have 2 2010 vehicles in our house, both peugeots, that cant take E10, despite what they say, so its not just classics it affects, one tank full and you think youve killed the things, ive not tested the BP, as its only 97 octane here, although you can make 4 star from it, not really good enough and better with 98 or 99 octane, but the amount will vary every time you fill up
  12. unless your going to de ethanol, any AC pump will fail fairly quickly, burtons assured us the firstline ones were ethanol resistant, but of course resistant dosnt really mean proof tbh, not really seen any other options, other than going electric, but that could be just as bad tbh, but ive no experience of the modern electric pumps i de ethanol mine, then add tetraboost to make proper 4 star, (the smell is lovely and casts back many memories lol) but they dont get driven enough for that to be a pain, but that does seem to stop all the issues
  13. ok, QH as it originally was, went bust some years ago, firstline/QH/ Borg and beck as far as im aware are all one company now and their massive factory sits on the side of one of the UKs biggest motorways, bragging all 3 brands an original AC pump wont put up with todays fuel, you will have to de ethanol to use it, and yes thats from experience, in replacement when the AC one failed, we fitted a firstline one which Burtons assured us was ethanol compatable, as nick refuses to de ethanol, thats been on the car for around 4-5 years now, however since restoring that car the pump is showing signs of it being tired, as sat for a week and it takes twice as much cranking to get the fuel up than mine with AC pumps, but not had a short life as you have tho a couple of issues i have had though is, if you have the incorrect thickness spacer and / or the wrong bolts, the pump isnt tight and oil weeps from the gasket i use a ford spacer gasket where possible, theres aftermarket bolts and ford bolts if mixed up, that are marginally too long, and they bottom out before its tight with the AC pumps there were 2 pressure rating ones, one for the 1100/1300 and another for the 1300GT/1600, the latter should be ok for the smaller engine, have burtons sold you a pump with the correct rated pressure

  15. agree with Katana, you cant annodise steel, but zinc plating is available in a black finish
  16. i had to fill out the taxation class change on the v5c, if your car dosnt have a current mot, you need also to fill in a v112, which is you declaring it exempt, if it has an mot you shouldnt need the V112, take both to the post office and they should issue the tax
  17. as a club sponsor, if this is the best photo of the NEC stand you could publish, i think its abysmal tbh, i wont be buying the usual 6 copies of the nec coverage for that
  18. even got the front to charge postage
  19. from where i sit, glad to remember the older car was fun back in the day, youngsters today just dont understand that bit
  20. RP, the nuts were specially made by classic car shack for putting the lazer wheels on a mk1, its going back about 4 plus years ago now as i was in my old unit, and i cant remember their design, but it was the wear in the wheels themselves that was the problem and not the nuts, the taper was so worn that on the front, the nuts went in too far and locked on the stud and left the wheel in a situation where it didnt feel loose,by hand, but was clearly not tight at the back, and the lock on the stud at the front tight enough to rip the splines out trying to remove them, on the back, he did have spacers, which is why the wheel came off, if he hadnt, that one would have locked on the stud as well, iirc, upon investigation, there was only one wheel of the 3 that wasnt worn, im guessing that perhaps a hammer gun had been used in the past and probable a few too many times
  21. capri laser wheels are what Nick once had on his mk1, speedshack make the nuts to order for that applicatiom, after 1 rear wheel cam off at 20mph and then 2 front wheels stuck to the hub because the nuts were seized in place, trying to undo them just tore out the stud splines, i had to grind the studs from behind with a die grinder to release the wheels, it was apparant the wheels were worn out, the tapers were so worn the nuts on the front went too far on and locked to the stud, and on the rear he also had spacers and the wheel came off because it wasnt in lock
  22. when i were a lad a simple brake bleed tube like this sufficed, a blanked end tube with a slit in it, e bay item no. 162887837589 hovever these days i use a vacuum bleeder as this dosnt need a second person and modern vehicles it tends to be think again, as some ABS systems even that dosnt work, my transit for example has to have the ABS system bled with the diagnstic system, and it also forbids piston pushback without the bleed nipples open, ie all the excess fluid from push back must come out of the bleed nipples and not back through the system, and fresh fluid must be put in through the master cycinder, as the ABS system is very sensitive to the slightest of dirty fluid modern junk
  23. no pictures here either
  24. hi, looking for a mk1 escort dash hazard light complete with its retaining clip, or a retaining clip on its own if anyone has one they want to sell, picture below of the light without the retaining clip
  25. tbh RP, ive been looking into this one for a couple of years, and so far no one is interested in replicating them in the UK, going back to the 80s, they stuck to the inside, and the vinyl was made by 3M, im told that 3M no longer make it and that todays car window grade vinyls are designed and made to stick externally, then theres also the copy write laws that put a potential manufacturer off copying it in the uk then we have the stupid modern UK laws that actually ban the product if it goes into the swept are of the wipers, and all our modern cars have markings on the screen that refer to it, the only legal tint on the windscreen in the swept are of the screen here, is the one made into the screen at manufacture, this info is on a lot of car wrapping sites, which is where i got it from, but you can see why these things are no longer produced or reproduced, my daily is a mk7 transit with a massive screen, but the wiper swept area is also massive, and no aftermarket tint is legally allowed on that screen with a genuine classic screen theres no markings, but pilkington make a shitty repro laminated screen for the mk1, they offer it tinted and with or without a built in sinstrip, but all those new screens have the legal markings of where its allowed, and it was their rep that explained that all to me what the markings were when i complained about them, they have to legally put them there so im just down to trying to find some NOS originals unfortunately
