  1. The characters are now missing from motorsport now.
  2. I was brought up on foot and a half lengths of railway sleeper stacked under the chassis rails, I have a variety of axle stands but always feel safer using big lumps of timber supporting the car when the stands are at their height limit, and you can use them on gravel. If there's a lot of pulling and pushing going on, and I'm stuck for space, I'll use stands but put some timber elsewhere under the car so I can't get trapped it the stands rock away. Car crush is not a pleasant way to expire, but it makes it easier to be delivered to the mortuary as you can be slipped under the door..............
  3. I'm scared to know how you discovered that tech tip!😱
  4. Renault 4's were brilliant little machines, if you could weld faster than they could rust. Would go almost anywhere like a mountain goat, mad gearshift and wheelbase longer on one side than the other, typical old school French. I'd have one again but getting expensive now.
  5. Ah, the joys of taking a pair of Strombergs plus manifold off an HC Viva in the rain. Top car in a stack of 3 that was bobbing up and down like a hooker when the fleets in town. The security wandering up and down beneath me, occasionally stopping to lick its nuts and growl. 18 and didn't care. Happy Days!
  6. No idea, it was bought from my Bro-in-Laws boss's mother who'd allegedly bought it a base spec car. It was built in the first week of January, maybe they just chucked anything on it due to back to work dilligaf blues?🤭
  7. I would keep it as is, but maybe uprate the front brakes to discs, my car was a January 1974 base 1100, it came from stock with disc brakes. Although it's a bit of a weird spec, as it was delivered as 1100 base 2dr, it came with discs, rear anti roll bar, carpets, opening rear windows, heated rear screen, 2 speed wipers, hazard lights, reversing lights, and in Modena Green. It's also built with metric suspension. Its been in the family over 40yrs and known to us from new. It's now as original as Triggers Broom.
  8. Wait until your next birthday is 70! I got in a conversation a vicar, which I ended by asking him, "If God is great, why did he design me with sealed for life joints instead of fitting my spine, knees, and elbows with grease nipples?" 🤣 The look on his face was priceless.
  9. It's easy to mistake an American tourist for a wildebeest, similar size, the crocs just think they've taken their fur coat off to go swimming🤭
  10. Aren't they like wildebeests? Those thick buggers that always cross a river at crocodile infested spot in the wild life films? I don't think think I want crocodiles attracted to the river in front of my house, Nah , sheep'll do, they only attract Welshmen.🤣🤣 (I'll run and hide now as I'm only a handful of miles from the border🤭)
  11. Sod Off James! You're not helping at all!🤣 Its October and after a fortnight on holiday my grass has grown long enough to cut it for silage, but it's so wet it would clog my mower. I need to buy some ovine beasts like you Antipodeans have, are they amphibious?
  12. That's the one I have but with a 4 port heater pipe, I have it mounted on a shelf and power it from a 12v transformer plugged into the mains.
  13. I have a cheap Chinese diesel heater too, toasty, but bloody noisy on full, I'm about to run the exhaust through a domestic panel radiator as a silencer before it exits the wall, if it works I'll get recycled heat as well. @Rally Pack 2000 James will be along soon to tell us how to run cheap air conditioning during winter!😁
  14. If it saves your life, pucker up and take it like a man!🤣🤣
  15. HA! @Vista You exposed your one use payment code, I'm RICH I tell ya! RICH!😂🤣
  16. If you put white doors on it you would have a Panda Car! The 1100's were the fastest urban car in the world!!😁 https://thumbs.worthpoint.com/zoom/images1/360/1113/27/ford-escort-mk1-panda-car-retro-a3_360_5e29065f160fd05ca81ebc06d2348273.jpg
  17. My son came up with some project modifications for our car.....? VIDEO-2025-09-05-14-46-34.mp4
  18. Getting from the back to the front would be like being born again.
  19. Following, I have a long tower servo on my 1360 and wonder if a single 40 would be better than a 32/36.
  20. I use Millers VSP Plus as it includes octane booster. Don't ask me about ratios, I just pour it in like a barman with the trembles!🤣
  21. @MotoI have a 1300 with a +90 bore 711M block, 1360 cc. BCF 3 Kent cam. Burton pistons, lightened and balance crank, rods, flywheel, rocker gear with spacers, 32/36 DGV Weber, big valve ported Mexico head, Harris air filter. Standard 1100 4 speed box and 3.9 axle, I like a short stroke revving engine. A bit too cammy in town, makes your ears bleed on a motorway, and likes spinning nearside dog dish hub caps off the 6J Weller steels, but a hoot on back roads. not fast but quick. When originally built we lived in the Yorkshire Dales and had a 1:6 hill one way, and a 1:5 the other, and the nearest motorway was 30 miles away. Built for is environs.
  22. I was looking for a four seat convertible and saw this had a full fabric sunroof, SOLD!🤣
  23. Good bye 1947Alvis, Hello 1970 Triumph 2000TC
  24. Not here, they state, a fail on emissions means I will have a fail on record, and it will never pass, so won’t test it. Sometimes living here is like being Alice in Wonderland! I’ve had this problem at two different garages with different cars, both exempt classic vehicles. It’s like talking to a fish. They insist it’s the new system, I have a friend who is a tester and he reckons it’s a rural Shropshire thing, like marrying your sister!😂😂
  25. In the film Northern soul there is two street shots outside the leads house that have yellow Rover P6 V8. That was my car, got well fed plus ex’s, for 1hr on set. Happy days. Considering the house and year, the Rover would have probably bought 3 houses in the street!😂 Not a true sandgrown un, from Garstang but now in Shropshire.
