what are them heads are they actually twin cam ??????

yes mate, normal pinto head with the cam carrier machined off

then 2 gear driven cams in a carrier with buckets and shims ,

which then runs off a normal 1600 pinto cambelt ,

clever yeah

wow :D , never seen a pinto like that 8):D , whats the advantage of doing that? .

my dad will have to explain that mate

i know he said there is a vernia on the cambelt wheel and the

cam gears have adjustable pins so you can alter the whole cam timing

set up and get more power ,i think thats right :?

That looks the nuts Jo, not seen that before, cant wait to see what it pulls on the rollers...!!!

Jeff Harris...

ello jeff  , well my dad said the cams are not too hot just sort

of fast road but he had the head done up large valves and the ports done , your dad likes it as well

he came up when my dad was putting it together and had a look

cheers everyone  , it revs really well but the cams are not too lairy

as he doe,snt race it just uses it on the road about 6 times a year ,

so probably not as powerful as i would have liked too have gone when building it, but i have to respect his wishes for what he wants to use the car for

because its twin cam dose that mean its 16 valve as well??

yeah it should do.... that is the point of a twin cam engine isnt it? although there are sum funni engines that are single cam and 16v, and vice versa i think... ...not sure

No it doesn't it just means that the exhaust valves and the inlet valves are operated by separate cams, the Twin cam engine fitted to the Mk1 Escort and Cortina for instance is an 8 valve engine as are all of the early Alfa twin cam engines. Whereas the twin cam Ford BD series are 16 valve.

As to whether this engine is 16 or 8 valve you'll have to ask the builder.

I think it'll still be an 8-valver, the description said "pinto cam carriers ground off" so I'd believe its a cam for inlet and one for exhaust. It gives greater flexibility to play with overlap & cam timing.

I vaguely remember these, don't think they sold many as the overall valve area doesn't increase & that's what the majority of people want

My mate google found this & a new site to add to favourites!

Ford also made an 8 valve twin cam for the sierra/grananda etc, the I4
