johnny_h Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 Ordered a big bore system and fannymould yesterday and it's turned up already. So far so good! For those of you that have messaged me about these exhausts I will put up some pics and report on fitting soon.
Rick Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 peter lloyd deliveries are the quickest iv had/! you can literally order on the evening and get the next morning! quality
johnny_h Posted September 18, 2007 Author Report Posted September 18, 2007 Well I just unwrapped it and I'm a bit gutted. When I called PL I asked about positioning and type of hangers for the system as my Janspeed system had all the correct fitments to match the original hangers on the car. The girl on the blower told me they sell 20 systems a week and havent had any problems yet. On first inspection the backboxes look similar. The Ashley is the top one: The first main difference is the hangars. Here's the Ashley one which is correct for the car: Here's the PL one Again the Ashley which is about right on the left and the PL one on the right: I can't see how I am going to be able to fit this system without bodging it
flyingbanana Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 chop each one off and swap around and reweld
johnny_h Posted September 18, 2007 Author Report Posted September 18, 2007 chop each one off and swap around and reweld No offence Mr Banana but this answer really annoys me. Just because I have an old ford it does not mean I have a garage with tons of fabricating facilites. If I buy something advertised to fit a certain car I want to bolt it straight on not fook about with it to get it to fit! Not only that the Ashley system is on ebay at the moment.
Fiesta Steve Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 I bought a Manifold from PL, there was no way of connecting it to my system without some welding.
flyingbanana Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 no offense taken .....ive built my tools up over years so i can get most stuff done...but also i dont have use of garage.....it was only a suggestion..... is that the only version they do?......i had the same pro when i brought a new middle section....but i just chopped and rewelded
johnny_h Posted September 18, 2007 Author Report Posted September 18, 2007 I bought a Manifold from PL, there was no way of connecting it to my system without some welding. I have a fannymould off them too but it looks ok.
Baz. Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 i have bad experiance of peter Lloyd, i ordered some wheels MX minilights, they sent me some other crap from another supplier, when i phoned them the welsh doris on the other end was unhelpfull, rude, told me they sell thousands and ime the only one to complain in the end i told her i wanted a refund and she hung up on me! they wouldnt give me my money back they said i had 13x7 wheels wot i asked for which was not true. 13x7 yes, but a totally different style of wheel!! i will never ever use them twats again, tiny brained unhelpfull rude arogant people.
johnny_h Posted September 18, 2007 Author Report Posted September 18, 2007 "told me they sell thousands and ime the only one to complain" Hmmm, that sounds familiar.
Baz. Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 Mate ive never met a doris so ignorant as her at that company, i was so angry! you shouldnt have to chop a new exhaust to make it fit
DEP Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 I bought a Peter Lloyd system for FOE, a couple of years ago, and had aggro fitting it, I had to chop about an inch and half off the manifold as the system did nt fit that well.
Jay_harrier Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 I had grief ages ago with them "Brand new 48's" - they sent used. Tell them you want an RMA number so you can send it back, if they get funny then send trading standards in & a note from a solicitor. Regardless of how many they sell its not an excuse to supply the wrong/inferior goods.
antz Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 i bought a PLR system for my mk2 and it fitted perfect
jimbo Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 "told me they sell thousands and ime the only one to complain" Hmmm, that sounds familiar. Yes because there must be thousands of people out there buying this kind of exhaust. I mean I can barely pull out of my drive some mornings for MK 1 Escorts going in all directions..... I hate it when they spin you that kind of line. When I was hunting around for a replacement exhaust. I mentioned to several suppliers about hangers being in the wrong position but they, and even a couple of fitting places, said Ford had a tendancy to move the hangers around, so it's not an exact science. But you're right Jonhhy, those are well off the mark. If you stated your car during the query/order process. then the goods are not of saleable quality and you are entitled to a full refund under the Sale of Goods Act. That said if you really want the exhaust on your motor, it could be time to get the welder out.
BIG G Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 the exhaust they have sent you is for the base model you want the rs fitting one they sell.
Noodles Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 My manifold from them was okay. I had to cut it a bit to clear the floor cos I have almost got the pinto spot on level and I thought it might have to do with if you have a world cup x member fitted it would go on better. I thought they were mainly a rally suppliers thats why I though the sysytem was a bit 'slap dash' the rest of the system apart from having to turn the back box 90 degrees cos its an estate was spot on.
Darran Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 the exhaust they have sent you is for the base model you want the rs fitting one they sell. Thats right, you have been sent a crossflow system. You need a "rs" back box and the hangers will be in the right place.
over_head_cam Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 Has anyone mentioned that the hangers on that exhaust are for a Mk2? BTW I had to cut and shut my PL system in about 4 places to make it fit. We fitted an Ashley on Darrens escort and it went virtually straight on
johnny_h Posted September 19, 2007 Author Report Posted September 19, 2007 i bought a PLR system for my mk2 and it fitted perfect Yeah probably because they designed it to fit a mk2 and just thought they would sell the same one to fit MK1's
johnny_h Posted September 19, 2007 Author Report Posted September 19, 2007 the exhaust they have sent you is for the base model you want the rs fitting one they sell. Thats right, you have been sent a crossflow system. You need a "rs" back box and the hangers will be in the right place. Thanks, i'll bell them back and see what is what
johnny_h Posted September 19, 2007 Author Report Posted September 19, 2007 Unbelievable! I just spoke to them and they are as Baz said complete twats. They told me I didn't ask for an RS exhaust and that I asked for a crossflow exhaust so that's what I got. What the fook is that supposed to mean. It is a crossflow! They said I should have asked for an RS backbox! F@ckwits. I recorded my last call. Peter Lloyd just argued with me then hung up so I rang back and he was unavailable so I argued with her until she hung up so I called back. When she knew I was recording she said they would swap them but I will have to pay the shipping back to wales. I asked why I should pay for thier mistake and she said I didn't ask for an RS system so it's my fault. She says "I've got your paypal order here and it says Exhaust sytsem for MK1 Mexico 1600 crossflow, not RS thank you very much" lol! Dumb cow! I tried explaining that a Mexico is an RS but she started going on about how she knows everything there is to know about cars blah blah blah....F@ckwits! They don't deserve a thriving business they have no customer relation skills whatsoever. ARSEHOLES!
Admin Vista Posted September 19, 2007 Admin Report Posted September 19, 2007 Sounds to me like they're the ones that have it all wrong, if they sell thosands of the damn things then they should know what a Mk1 Mexico needs and send out the correct items first time every time. Ring them back and warn them that you are recording the conversation before you continue to speak. Tell them the above, i.e. Mk1 Mexicos have always needed the above back box from new and that you ordered a mk1 Mexico system and expect to receive that system. Tell them you want a new system sent out and that the courier is to collect the incorrectly supplied one at the same time. Then advise them that this is your last phonecall on the subject and that you will resort to the courts without any further communication to them. Above all stay calm (you're recording it after all and may want to use it as evidence) state exactly what is wrong, what you want them to do to put it right, and how long you're prepared to give them to action their error. Be sure and specify that it is their error. Good luck mate, too many of us take this kind of shoddy service lying down.
doyle Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 i had a pl system for the cappa and thats a really shit fit too, it sits so low at the centre box. When i spoke to them they were rude to me too!
