BIGKEV Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 I was looking at spending around £400 with Peter Lloyd - I wont be now. I hope they read this.
jimbo Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 I sympathise entirely Johnny. I had a similarly unpleasant experience buying an Ashley system form Edworthys. Make a brew, get comfy, and read all about it here http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=55543&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 Given how quickly you've resolved your situation, I'll be going to Trading Standards next time. Jim
tim Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 how come in your orginal email you mention RS2000 type 49,givin them 2 much info is dangious and makes then sould of just said mk1 mexico intresting readin tho as i will need a new exhuast over the winter for my mexico
johnny_h Posted September 19, 2007 Author Report Posted September 19, 2007 She mentioned RS2000, when I called the first time to tell them the thing was not right. She said they do a crossflow exhaust or an RS2000 exhaust. I just said that the body shell of a mexico was the same as an RS2000 therefore the hangars would be the same. I know what I said and I know what I asked for. Before I even ordered the thing I called and specifically asked about hangar type and position and she said they sell 20 a week and have never had any problems.

GJUK Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 fooks sake, I think Peter just lost about 30 possible customers thanks to this thread. I might wack a link on Turbosport now to let them all know about this fiasco also. Jon
flyingbanana Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 thats another company on my avoid list .....
Burns Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 so the real reason you got a non RS2000 exhaust is because they're out of stock? bunch of numpties
johnny_h Posted September 20, 2007 Author Report Posted September 20, 2007 I have just spoken to trading standards about PL's reply and they told me because he has offered a full refund he is no longer in breach of contract and there is nothing I can do so I called PL and told him I would send the old back box back out of my own pocket and he said no problem I will get an RS box out to you today as soon as I recieve yours back. I need an exhaust and have lost my battle lol! Bastard!

negri Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 I have just spoken to trading standards about PL's reply and they told me because he has offered a full refund he is no longer in breach of contract and there is nothing I can do so I called PL and told him I would send the old back box back out of my own pocket and he said no problem I will get an RS box out to you today as soon as I recieve yours back. I need an exhaust and have lost my battle lol! Bastard! is there no where else you could have got it ? theres no way id be giving him the satisfaction of that , if there was no one else selling one i would have got my mate to buy it later . still though , hes lost a bit of custom im sure for the sake of some postage money .
johnny_h Posted September 20, 2007 Author Report Posted September 20, 2007 I think I had better wait until I have the right back box in my hands! The problem is we are not spoiled for choice when it comes to off the shelf exhausts. The same as rubber trim. Because we have little choice we have to put up with substandsard goods and service.
SmokeEm Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Well they'll get no more of my business. I will use Rally Design from now on - slightly dearer but at least you get the right parts AND customer service.
RETRO_AL Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 I have used peter loyyd a few times and had no probs with them,i even get free postage
johnny_h Posted September 20, 2007 Author Report Posted September 20, 2007 I have used peter loyyd a few times and had no probs with them,i even get free postage I'm happy for you.
jimbo Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 I don't know if these guys can offer what you are after, but when I was scoping round for a new exhaust, I was set on going for these guys. Only my budget prevented me. http://www.powerflowexhausts.net My local dealer in Aylesbury (TopGear) was able to offer a cheaper, fitted, mild steel alternative, but at the last minute, JamesP offered up a std exhaust to keep me going. I'm saving for a stainless system, for when the next one goes.
Slik 50 Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 is that 2 exhausts on the front of the car. Ist it a Ka? Is it an astra? WTF how on earth can you look at that add then think "Yep, powerflow are the on for me " Honestly that car thing is the uglyest piece of garbage I have ever seen
capri07 Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 that car is a citroen c2, way too much time and effort, still looks kinda funky
johnny_h Posted September 22, 2007 Author Report Posted September 22, 2007 that car is a citroen c2, way too much wasted time and effort, still looks kinda funky I totally agree, what a pile of gash!
Wessie Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 that car is a citroen c2, way too much wasted time and effort, still looks kinda funky I totally agree, what a pile of gash! i saw it at the autosport show, it won max power car of the year, and the seat is centrally mounted surrounded by subs
Jay_harrier Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 WTF is that!!!????? I didn't see the car.... Its no comfort but PL pissed me off back in the 90's - they so deserve to go out of business. Why not write to a couple of mags to name and shame them?
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 i saw it at the autosport show, it won max power car of the year, and the seat is centrally mounted surrounded by subs So you have to lower yourself in from the sunroof....?
fezza Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 i saw it at the autosport show, it won max power car of the year, and the seat is centrally mounted surrounded by subs So you have to lower yourself in from the sunroof....? Thats right, with a crane that unfolds from the wing mirror
