Or am i paranoid ?

Sitting indoors last night , me Julie says " theres a bloke looking at your car " , so , i go outside and there he is , practically on his hands an knees checking my Escort over !

So i says " alright mate ? "

"Yeah " he says " lovely motor...." then 10 minutes of general chit chat and he walks off . mmmm , i am thinking , bit of a wierd thing to be doing at 8 pm , so back outside i go and check me cut off switch is working ok and remove coil lead just for a little piece of mind ....

So , what happens today ? I come home from work and me Julie says , " 2 blokes where on there mobile talking about your car outside today !

WTF !!

Turns out Julie overheard one of them saying , and i quote ....

"Yeah , i got it mate , the one with the Old Skool sticker , bright yellow one , yeah , i clocked it mate nice one "

:evil::evil::evil:

Hence car has now been moved to a safer location ....and my friend Baseball is sat at the back door waiting for there return . :ykt::wink:

W***rs :evil::evil::evil::evil:

Is classic thefts getting more common?

I hate to say it but you cant watch day and night but you can fit a tracker which will mean you stand a chance of recovering the car at the very least .

Emily i worked with had a Bmw stolen from Windsor late one night it was fitted with a trackstar+ ,they robbed her keys and smashed her nose and drove off at high speed ,the car was found 39minutes later in a back street in Slough and recovered before any harm was done .

As the prices for these cars rise they are now more sought after than many newer cars ,easier to ring and only one chassis number to worry about .

I was nearly the victim with my Granada recently ,it was on my drive last year and i caught two banger racers eyeing it up .

I asked them what they wanted and they asked if i would consider selling it for spares?

The next day they came back with a lorry and were seen hanging around the roads behind me .

I moved the car to storage and now its in a bodyshop ,hopefully being repaired for the show season !

Im fitting one on it before it goes walkies !!!!

Took my estate for a run yesterday & parked it outside a row of shops to buy a valentines card for Michelle ( :D ), wrote it out & got some stamps at the mini post office in store, bought some choccie (for me), came out & there's a bloke peering in my passenger window so I walked over & stood next to him & said "alright?!" he stood upright & asked me if it was mine, mentioned that he used to have a mk2 Mexico & a Harrier, tapped on the roof of the car, said it was nice & hobbled off as he had a bad foot

Bloke in toy r us came to speak to me the other day, as he saw it coming in the car park, He wanted to know everything.

He shook my hand and said 'your a c*unt...but a damn lucky one, look after it!'

When i had my first mk2 parked up outside my house, awaiting an mot, Apparantly 2doors down noticed blokes peering round 2nights in a row (she forgot to mention it! ) Also they got into the car and were trying to start it too!

Sorry to hear that Iain... at least you've moved it, better to be safe than sorry :ykt::wink:

There are alot of burglaries happening in my area and road at the moment, so now my shed has an alarm, and I now have CCTV cameras guarding the Capri & Anglia. It's to dark and open up here in the mountains :(

The neighbours not to fond of me after the failed attempt on my mark 2 resuled in his car being taken and burnt out. They had the know how, reconnected the coil, started, ht lead only to realise no battery, in the process they put in a window, did a job on the columb, ignition and loom. The car was revisited again since. Now its behind a removable bollard.

scary shit, I have plans to 'Fortify' my place when the escorts finished. I've had two RSTs and a Cossie broken into, they got one off the drive before being disturbed.

I know I started a thread about security before but it's something we all must worry about so i'm gonna start another.

sorry sumo but on the bright side at least your julie was alert enough to tip you off, you could have woke up to find it gone.

fookin w@nkers

Thats bad news, i dont think i could sleep at night with the car outside the house.

Its an inconvenience but i think these days they at least need to locked away out of sight in a garage, i know it dont stop the fookers from having a go, but its alot more harder for the younger crims without a clue of how to break into things.

Good job for moving it though mate

Guuted for you mate.

I hate reafing about stuff like this which involves mates, it puts the fear of God into me. I have no option but to park my Capri in the alley around the back of my house, which i DO NOT like. But i ain;t got a garage so what can i do.

I'm on the phone to tracker this morning though. :D

Glad she's still safe though mate.

Hopefully you had a good look at them, thus being able to supply a good description should the worst ever happen.....

However, Sounds as though you handle it well and took relevant precautions.

Of all the day to day worries with things like parts availability, reliability, time and money.... we also have the burden of jealous W*nkers trying to steal our cars

its sad times when you have to worry so much about enjoying your motor without some nobs dmaaging or setaling it.

best thing to do is make it secure in every way you can afford to. even if it takes you 10 mins to undo all your security devices to use the car...

the one that bothers me is the self loader... only way you can stop that is to chain the fooker down somehow with a hefty chain, i know i will be, right round the crossmember
