Am I alone if finding this:-

Pull up beside the pump and check wallet for cashflow, fill car to desired level say £30.00 for arguments sake, remove nozzle from car and put it back into the pump. Then walk to the counter offering my three crumpled tenners to be told £30.01 please! Where does the extra penny come from??? I'm certain I stopped at £30.00 but when I walk back to the pump, sure enough it's displaying £30.01!

Anyone else find this or is it just me being scammed out of extra pennies?

Yes Vista, I was going to post this very same post the other day but just thought it was me being crap! Not only that but how FOOKING hard is it to stop at a round number these days. It seems the tiniest squeeze of the trigger spews forth several pence of fuel. It's bolloox. In Germany the fuel pumps are pre set. If you want 50 euros you pre set it and the pump automatically switches off. Also I found out most garages have the ability to do this. If you go into the garage and say you want to pre pay the pump will shut off at the amount you paid.

i always pay on my card but have to fill up to the nearest 50p else i get uncomfortable :lol: i hate it when i go to pay and they say £40.01p :evil::evil: so now i try and use pay at the pump when possible, which to people queing at the pumps looks like your driving off without paying :lol::lol::lol:

It's happened to me a couple of times, mostly at Asda when I worked in Manchester. I'd put the pump down and checked and it was £20, but when I reached the counter they asked for £20 and a penny. So I had an argument with them (in a busy shop) over a penny.

I usually go by litrage at the pump, but if I know I put £30 in the tank and they ask for an extra penny, I'll just give em the £30 and naff off before they got chance to do owt about it.

I'm so glad I don't work for Shell anymore :wink: I used to get people in everyday asking if I'd pressed the button....yeh coz I got nothing better to do with my time :roll:

It used to happen to me too but I fill by the litre not by the £ now

I hate to say this, but I have had the opposite. Fill up and it goes 1p over, but not been asked for the change, though I was ready for it. If it bothers anybody (me included) just say you have no more money at all, you just put what you had on you in the tank. I wouldn't mind but it costs enough as it is!

I must live in a nice area!

Some petrol stations here have a dish with 1p's in, if you go over by 1p then you just give them one from their dish!

How cool is that :thumbsup::mrgreen:

It's not only the fact that someone could have nicked your card to pay for the fuel, but how does a pump know whether you are old enough to dispense fuel or even that the container (if you're using one) is Kite marked container and not just an empty lemonade bottle found in the bins. I'm still confused as to know how these pay at pump thingys are legal :roll:
